Are there any towers that can be built over a front porch extension so I can get to the gutters of the main house? Not sure there is much out there for this sort of thing (edited)

Assuming you can get a ladder up at the side of the porch, use a set of drain rods with a hinged drop scraper. You can push it along the gutter & then draw the moss & leaves towards you. That's how I do over the conservatory.

On a side note, two best accessories I bought for the ladder were a stand-off & a set of ladder mats. The mats take care of levelling & prevent sinking in gravel or soft ground. The stand-off allows easier working over the gutter.

I think the height is less for an average sized house. I don't you'll hardly even get to the guttering height with 5M one. Do also remember a 5M one you won't be able to use the maximum height as the bit you stand ok has to be 3 or 4 rungs down from the scaffold.

5m is the working height, not the height of the tower.

I have a similar from Tubesca.

    toptower.co.uk/sca…wer

Slightly cheaper, but accessories are more expensive if you want them.

Used toptower a couple of times, and have been reliable for me.

Had 5m for years, which was extremely useful. The platform eventually rotted out (left outside... ), which was an easy replacement. The alloy tubes were just fine, and I would happily leave them outside for years.

Have now updated to the 7m

At first use, it can seem a bit bendy and wobbly, but after a while you get used, and I don't have any worries about using it for one person. 7m takes me about 20mins to put together now.

I can actually get the whole 7m setup inside my Skoda superb estate if I take the crossbars off of the feet. Otherwise, it easily goes on the roof-rack

Light years better than standing at the top of a triple extension ladder !!!

For a bit of context, this is my old 5m one. The 7m one gets me easily to the gutters

Have commented before on the bpss tower- I have the 7m one 5 years ago and has been brilliant. Lightweight and moveable when built (e.g getting along guttering etc), I bought the outriggers with mine - this makes it feel much more solid, would highly recommend getting them, without wobbles about a bit too much for me. Also buying from a company means you can get spares etc if you break anything which is pretty useful.

Totally agree. I've had the 7m working height (clip-together version) with 4 outriggers for 4 years and now only use a ladder for quick up/down jobs. Solo, it takes about 40 min to assemble - but a lot of that is carrying the bits from garage to location. Once assembled, it can be carried by two people if the working platforms are moved to the bottom levels (c of g - platforms are the heaviest components ;). Bought two additional handrails last year. Simplicity itself. Called, gave my postcode, BPSS told me the model that I had and when it was originally delivered. Two rails, £25 inc, arrived early next morning. Excellent.

noone buys this without at least 2 outriggers... and you'll need the bumpers too, if working against a house. price is going to be closer to £420 with those.

That picture breaks health and safety regulations.. no outriggers. The guy is mad

I too thought they were excellent value compared to a week hire from HSS, I will be venturing to there site to view before purchase as it’s the next village.

I’m thinking the purchase of two outriggers would be a wise choice but the price obviously goes up

If you intend to use it at 5m then outriggers will definitely make your undies stay clean. Unless you’re using it near something you can tie off to.

Anyone used this for high stairways?

You can use it on the staircase, but you will need to remove stabilisers. Width with stabilisers is 1.23m and without 0.64m.
The holes on the frame will allow to adjust to the staircase, you may need to use some timber packers under the bottom in case tower is not level as there is no adjustments like on the tower with wheels.

I wonder if they deliver to prisons?
I mean it would be a lot simpler and quicker than tunneling or hiding in piles of dirty laundry to be taken out for cleaning.
    Please let me know.

Never having had to buy a scaffold tower before, I wondered if this was in fact as good a deal as the company portray it. Searching the internet / there are comparable prices on EBay, but as this is from an actual company which you can hope to get some customer service from It looks like this is in fact a good deal…(I need to hire one but now wondering whether to buy this one instead!)

For those that have this or very similar, how long does erection ( ) take? (let me know the height and if that's alone etc)
  16. hussair's avatar
£429 with 2 out riggers and bumpers and wall protectors max Working height of the 5m one is 4.75 meters nice find up.
Not sure if this 5m one would reach the drains on the roof ?would I be better off with the higher so 6m or 7 meters ones ?

I have a 7m version with outriggers and height adjustable wheels which you need if any ground is uneven like my garden. Good quality and easy to assemble.
    chitychatty's avatar
Hey Twizzel, do the height adjustable wheels come standard? Or are they an option? I only ask because I can't see them listed... Ta
