These lights typically have a circuit where the LED is bypassed by the light sensor - so the power consumption actually RISES (marginally) during the daylight hours. The LED is typically heavily overdriven at full output - so may not last long at all.

Still it's cheap as chips just for the enclosure - ONLY IF your skills are well up to it, you could replace the internals with your own electronics if/when needed.

OT - but just a suggestion - if you point this at a wall plastered with luminescent shapes, we found that far more effective. YMMV. We used stars (as in pointy stars not real ones) and starships (again pointy things with wings and not realistic ones) . The peel-off ones don't leave marks, but we moved them around a bit just to avoid uneven fading. OK starts don't move (or astronav wouldn't work) and spaceships get (apparently) smaller as they move further away. Education is a process of diminishing deception.

I have these, one in the landing so I don't tread on the dog in the middle of the night if he wanders up and lays down, and one in daughters bedroom. Work fine - don't get that dim, but dim enough not to be intrusive in a bedroom.

£6.99 for me (30% off voucher). You might want to update the price/description as it looks like price will vary.
