”There are very few TVs currently available that can compete with the LG G3.”
’AV Forums’ – Best in Class.

The best TV for smaller rooms

When a 55 inch TV is all that you need, finding anything better than the LG OLED55G36LA proves a thankless task. Not only does it look stunning, the MLA enhanced OLED display reproduces colour and detail better than ever – which is quite something when you consider the already lofty heights reached by OLED technology. Combine these with the enhanced sound and class-leading Smarts and you’ve easily got one of the very best 55 inch TVs ever made.

LG’s brightest ever OLED screen, with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology
Featuring MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology, this LG OLED TV offers the brightest picture yet. MLA uses a layer of tiny lenses to improve the screen’s focus. Enhanced brightness brings images to life, with more realistic and natural colour. Brighter screens also perform better in daytime lighting, letting you see more detail then you otherwise would with a conventional OLED screen.

Gallery design makes this TV a work of art
For TV style, there’s little to beat LG’s Gallery (G-series) design. At around the depth of a typical heating controller, this super-slimline TV takes pride of place in your room, without dominating it. The G-Series uses LG’s ‘4 Side Cinema’ screen for a clean, near-bezel-less image. The supplied wall bracket mounts the TV flush to the wall, giving this TV a stunning appearance. (Please note, stand not included but an optional LG stand is available at additional cost).

New Alpha 9 Gen 6 processor with Alpha Reality
LG’s sixth generation Alpha 9 processor now features Alpha Reality for the most optimised picture yet. Alpha Reality includes AI Super Upscaling Pro – delivering the best possible picture from sub-4K sources, maximising the screen’s potential. OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro uses four times the zone mapping (now 20,000 zones) for enhanced HDR contrast. Object Enhancer and HDR Expression Enhancer optimise specific picture elements for enhanced sharpness.

The beauty of HDR detail – including Dolby Vision
With wide-ranging HDR compatibility, the LG OLED55G36LA maximises media content, giving you the very best levels of detail. Compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, this LG TV finds detail, even within the darkest areas of the screen, giving you a clearer insight into movies and a gaming advantage with your console.

See the picture exactly as originally intended, with Filmmaker Mode
If you’re mad about movies, you’ll love Filmmaker Mode. Designed in collaboration with filmmakers and Hollywood studios, Filmmaker Mode lets you experience the cinematic vision, exactly as the director intended. Overriding the TV’s own motion and picture processing, Filmmaker Mode presents the correct aspect ratio, colour and frame rate – just as the filmmakers intended.

Enjoy ultimate gaming
It’s not just movies that this LG excels with; a suite of tech makes this LG the gamers’ choice, too. LG’s Game Optimiser utilises an enhanced gaming menu, giving you quick access to important settings. A selection of game genre presets, including one for sports games for example, tailor the image to suit the game type. Equipped with 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 sockets, it’s designed to get the very best from today’s, and future, games consoles. QMS (Quick Media Switching), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) mean that your TV automatically adjusts to the optimised settings for gaming – giving you a smoother and faster response.

Upgraded audio
Featuring an enhanced, 4.2 speaker system, the OLED55G36LA offers more impressive sound than lower models. Power is also up 50% to 60 watts – giving a richer, room-filling sound. Using AI algorithms, the improved AI Sound Pro now up-mixes two-channel audio to virtual 9.1.2 sound – producing a much more immersive sound and enhanced dialogue. Pair with an LG soundbar and the sophisticated processing splits the total sound output between TV and soundbar, for a richer, more enveloping sound.

Smart TV made simpler, with webOS 23
Widely regarded as one of the best smart TV platforms, LG’s webOS system continues to be the system to beat. The latest webOS 23 is easier to use with new Quick Cards folders. These group related content together, making it easier to find the app or source you’re looking for. Recommendations and favourite apps feature on the home screen and are now bespoke to individual users for a more personal interface.

The hub of your home entertainment – with voice control
Featuring LG’s ThinQ AI technology, you can control a Home IoT ecosystem with natural voice recognition. With both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built-in, it makes it even easier to control your LG OLED TV and quickly access the entertainment you’re looking for.

Making a strong case as the best 55 inch TV available, the LG OLED55G36LA raises the bar for others to follow.

Please note, this Smart TV features third party Apps. These Apps may be modified or withdrawn at any time. There may also be a delay in launching some of the featured Apps. Catch-up TV Apps may vary by region. The function and availability of apps is not covered by the manufacturer’s or Richer Sounds’ guarantee.

Why are G models without a stand more expensive than C models with a stand?

LG “G” -range (from what I gather) have the main benefit over the “C”-range because they have heat sinks inbuilt, which keep the overall TV cooler and drastically reduces the odds of the TV getting dead pixels/ burn-in issues.

Presumably, because of this, LG offer a better warranty against screen burn on the G3 (and perhaps the G2?)

Other benefits are it is slightly slimmer (designed to be fit on a wall, as previously mentioned) and slightly brighter (more useful in brightly-lit rooms).

Another benefit (which I need to research better) is the addition of MLA tech (Micro Lens Array) which is something to do with making images better.

I’m sure someone can take the baton and run with that

    Very tempted

The LG site is doing this TV for 1699 but if you apply a Blue Light or Perks and Work code, it's 1330. Plus they offer a free 4 year D&G extended warranty

BUT... Richer Sounds for £1499, sell the sound bar for £200 + a really good 6 year warranty.

    Decisions decisions

Do Richer Sounds price match with BlueLight or Perks At Work?

    This or a Sony A80L?
was set on the A80L, and i'd prefer the android operating system, but very tempted by the extra picture quality of the LG G3 (edited)

I just rang them up and my order has been shipped. Ordered this morning with the free sound bar. I upgraded to priority delivery just in case they catch on and cancel the delivery mid transit

Well done. Annoyingly, I tired to order straight away but needed to over telesales as I have a voucher from a warranty claim. But they wouldn't honour it, even though I could demonstrate original deal could still be added to basket at the time.

I’d have bought with the sound bar thrown in - RS lost another sale from me by pulling that offer.

My max budget is about £1250 for a 55 inch TV, but I would have bought this knowing I could have sold this G1 soundbar/ my current one for £200-300.

Not too fussed. There’s going to be many deals coming up this month, as strong rumours of a LG G4 early next year being released, which has been designed especially for gaming. Also, strong competition with the new 2023 TVs - in particular, the Sony 55’ xr55a95lu £2699/ xr55a95ku (2022) £1799, and the Philips 55’ OLED 908 £1999 (these are at the top end admittedly).

Tempted to blow the budget and treat myself - new TVs will have decent sound and can probably sell the current soundbar anyway. (edited)

I'm in exactly the same boat. Annoyed they pulled the codes mid morning yesterday, and when I called Holborn store they made me a naff offer for the TV + a cheaper soundbar. Lost a sale there - I'm in no rush

That's a g26 not g36 with the new Evo panel. And it sold out very quickly!

It's a good deal. I bought this from Hughes last month including the soundbar and a couple of other bits (stand and a bluetooth speaker). Soundbar isn't bad I wouldn't buy it seperately but I've put it in my room with my old cx and it's pretty good in there.

I've been speaking to telesales on and off this morning. Apparently they will not honour this deal as the speaker code for the G1 was supposed to expire last month. The best they will do is instead, provide the S75Q soundbar instead of the G1.

They say if ordered on website, orders will get cancelled.

Either that or can get the G1 "half price" and telesales would knock another £100 off
    ahthatsamazing's avatar
Speaking to a store right now and they begrudgingly agreed to price match at £1499 but wont throw in the soundbar for free

They've pulled the codes! Thats very very annoying
  12. maxcovergold's avatar
How has this still not been expired? The G1 was never available in conjunction with the £200 code (orders apparently got cancelled). The code for g1 was then pulled later the same day and then yesterday the £200 discount code was also pulled
