Great unless your charging wires/Christmas lights come out of the top then the socket opposite is redundant,

    Had one for years

A pound a socket - can't be bad. Sadly, not rewireable so not possible to swap the supplied flex with a longer one. Again, like the tower version - more suited to stuff that gets plugged in once and left there, rather than frequently being plugged and unplugged (typically with the power on). If you want to do the latter - pay the extra and get one with individually switched sockets. Especially suitable for wall warts that might otherwise be plugged direct into a 13A socket. The 13A fuse in this extension lead providing rather better discrimination than the 32A fuse/breaker for your ring main. Annoying that they put the hanging keyholes where they have - I find it much more sensible to hang these vertically, indicator light topmost, with the cable coming out the bottom.

The fuse at your distribution board protects the circuit as a whole. Your comment about discrimination makes no sense.
