sorted byIntel® Core™ i5-1135G7 Processor vs Intel® Core™ i5-1130G7 Processor = winner surface (only just - minmal difference to be honest
8GB RAM vs 16GB RAM = winner matebook
256GB SSD vs 512GB SSD = winner matebook
Battery life = similar on both
Keyboards = Surface one is apparently better
Connectivity = both have wifi 6 + bluetooth 5.1 = same same
Ports = Surface wins with one extra usb-c port + surface connect
Difficult one to be honest.
If you're doing light browsing, media consumption and basic productivity (email etc) then the 8GB will probably do you fine for a couple of years yet.
BUT if you're one of those people that never closes a chrome tab and has millions of them open ALL the time, then stay away from the surface lol. Or if you like to do video/teams calls etc.
The Matebook likely perform better in the long run, and SSD size doesn't really matter unless you love saving photos/media to the device itself instead of using a cloud service.
I had the surface pro 8 from the JL offer from earlier this year, and tbh i ended up returning it. It was the 16GB model, but battery life was shocking to be honest, nowhere near the 16hours they claim.
Beautiful device but HEAVY - so if you expect to use it as a tablet on sofa etc i'd say don't. Don't buy it for its tablet portability, Windows UI is pretty naff at that, you're better off going ipad or android for a proper portable tablet.
I can't comment on the Matebook as I've not used that but at the cheaper price, double the memory/disk maybe I'd go for that instead if I had to choose.
Personally, however I wouldn't buy either - I'd get a decent 13/14" ultra-book to be the daily portable computing device and a tablet on the side for actual tabletting around/when you're out n about.
Whilst the formfactor looks good on these, in practicality it's pretty poor.
Unless you're sitting at a desk with solid base, trying to balance these devices on a lap/sofa/cushion just isn't worth the hassle.
Sorry if I've confused you more lol
