No need to shuck them, the drives are removable and will have there own warranty. I think they only have two years on the drives though, rather than the normal 3 years for Reds bought separately.

I remember reading there was a hard wired backdoor in some of these WD My Cloud networked devices but it looks as though they've fixed it :)
Not worth it then, if you are shucking. And you would lose any extended warranty. But I suppose this has to be voted hot if you want 20 TB of external storage.
