This is a fantastic idea, but there are many more to add to the list. The sheer number of places which offer discount are only limited by the effort of local military personnel asking the cheeky question.
Odiham for example has many restaurants/pubs offering significant discount ranging from 10-25%.
Derby Inn (25% off food), Waterwitch (25% off food and inhouse ale), Grapevine (various, just give them a call), Bell & Dragon (10% off food and drink).
Similarly, many businesses not listed on the Defence Discount Website or Reward For Forces give discount. Be aware, Reward For Forces charges businesses for advertising, whereas Defence Discount Service does not.
I've just negotiated a deal with Wickes (which we used to have). I will list the trade account number on here shortly.
In essence, many places will offer discount. You just have to have the courage to ask the question.
    Everywhere gives student discount.
Perhaps it is time we re-addressed that balance by working together to increase the number of places/businesses offering a significant discount to the military. The USA has this right and it's about time our country supported us in the same way.

Thank you. I'm actually really surprised at how many cold votes this is getting but put the word 'student' instead of military and it gets 5k heat.

Although Reward For Forces charge businesses there are some amazing deals available, specifically on hotels.
Also, in London places such as the Tower and River Cruises offer a discount among many others. I think the Tower works out around £15 each. It should be free, but we can work on that together.
Would you believe that we have to pay to visit the Belfast.
In San Diego you can both park for and visit the USS Midway for "guess how much?"

Yes I believe so. Can't remember if I had to provide it but I'm pretty sure you do as if I think I remember sending a photo of it off.

I believe they need a copy of your discharge papers if you are a Veteran.

Most probably. Not all these discounts you need the card but a form of military ID will do just like student discount.

I am a member of DDS and you are required to send in a picture of yor MOD90 part of the sign up process. This can be scanned or emailed.

I know Nandos don't accept the discount card. They insist on a current id. I have an Emergency Services card and they don't accept that either. Only the current ID qualifies. Probably because they want to see a photo.

It's not official though, they just put it through the student option which is why only selected ones do it.

I beleive cadet forces can apply for the DDS card but check their website.

    Who qualifies for the service?

I think the hottest deals are those that are open to everyone. I have posted MOD discount deal before and it went mega cold. More students around than service or ex servicemen hence why their deals seem to get hotter.

Understandle but I think that there is still a lot of serviceman and servicewomen who are on this site. I personally think that a student deal going so hot but yet a military one can't is quite bad as I guess a lot of the student one who voted to get it that hot were not students. Each to their own, I posted this since a lot of people on that thread mentioned military.

They do some superb deals. I recently watched England vs Malta (2 tickets) for £3.50 (admin fee). They also do ballots; however, I am yet to win one....not sure why because I enter almost all of them! Plenty of free premiership football games available.

Any GREAT new car deals for U.K. Serving personnel?

I know a few car dealerships do military discount but I think it's though the Defence discount page. Audi do some deals for military.

I think an NHS version of this would be good too

Victory Services Club vsc.co.uk is a great asset for serving and retired personnel, membership costs £22.50/year but you get cheap for central London, hotel rooms (just off Marble Arch). I've stayed twice this month for £88 per night in a double room, a 2 course evening meal for around £20.

All, if you look at the link added earlier you can see all these deals which were added almost 3 years ago. Communication is the main cause for concern. Perhaps if the comms were good in the first place, we wouldn't need to be chasing information on discounts. In America each base has somewhere which gives advice on these sorts of deals. If we can chat to the Defence Discount Service (DDS) (because they offer a free service) and help them improve their site or create our own.
I'm up for helping to achieve the desired outcome. A list on here is only going to help a handful of military people. Remember that discounts in America (for example) also apply to us (if you ask).

Who is up for helping the DDS or creating our own website? I have the connections, but will need some help.

Some help for the heroes too please? Ambulance crews, doctors and nurses!
  25. deleted1608216's avatar
Once again, a request for "Military" discount has transgressed into a "facebook-style" blog.
It is not hard to find discounts available for members of the NHS.
Again, another list on here doesn't help the masses because people don't even know HotDeals exists. What it needs is a change to the DDS or a new website.

There has been a thread running for the last few years here:

Perhaps we need a comprehensive UK Forces Discount Service.
Anyone up for helping create one?
A collaborative approach with leadership and action will ensure we can provide a comprehensive "free" service.

The discounts are pretty much the same as students.
I would have liked to see more of a discount for those that risk their life for our country.

Ive many friends who served in afghanistan but are now doing manual jobs and pay the same tax as anyone else.
Id like to see anyone who served in combat get tax breaks or even tax free for life.
It will never happen but if some of my £500 tax each month went towards this Id feel much happier paying it. Its sickening when you think about where it really goes.

It's horrible when you see how other countries treat their military compared to this country and also when you're OOA and see how countries feed their troops and give them good Internet etc etc compares to ours.

I was in Bella Italia last week and they said they didn't do military discount! I think it varies from place to place.
  39. deleted1608216's avatar
Not convinced Bella Italia do the 10% discount deal they started in 2013; however, remember there are other voucher websites:

    https://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/bella-italia

That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep negotiating with these sorts of companies.
