5000mm is nowhere near being waterproof but for the price it's still something. (edited)

The 5000 is referring to the breathability......

Of course, if it was referring to hydrostatic head (as you assume) that would be very waterproof.

I got this jacket I find it very useful it pack away quite small and it keeps me dry in the rain

This sort of jacket from regatta is very plasticky.... People will hear you rustling from a mile away! Not recommended
