Had them all and can honestly say...
Quest 1 good for watching films and playing the games that still work on it as device is out of support.
Quest 2 great for watching films, playing more games and experiencing an introduction to mixed reality (blurry cameras), support should last 2/3 years.
Quest 3 superb for watching HD films in higher image quality, playing games and enjoying mixed reality, support should last 4/5 years based on previous experience with these devices as technology is changing fast.

Hahahahah support. Meta dropped the Rift S officially and forced people to move from Oculus to Meta accounts.

They may be better in future, but the past is not really a indicating that.

Absolutely love mine definitely worth getting one. However been a lot cheaper than this so I would advise to hold out for a better deal

I am a newbie on this, does it come with free software, and if so is it any good? Also what about additional software titles what sort of price range are they?

Thanks OP. Ordered. Cheapest price in Amazon history according to 3 camels
    loopz's avatar
A lot of us got one for £250 with a £50 gift card as well, so £200 really

Do you need a PC? How does it compare to PlayStation 4 vr ? X
    TehJumpingJawa's avatar
You don't *need* a PC. The Quest 2 is a standalone headset.
That said, having a gaming PC opens up a much *much* larger, graphically more impressive (and cheaper!) library of games.

Even standalone Quest 2 is leagues ahead of the PSVR1(+PS4).
PSVR2(+PS5) is a better headset with comparable performance to having the Quest 2 paired with a mid range PC.
However the PSVR2 games catalogue is tiny and very unlikely to grow significantly. It's a dead end.

    *Edit*
Just a small update; apparently Sony have announced that the PSVR2 is getting PC support!
Somewhat exciting news if you're a PC gamer after a capable (but tethered) headset on the cheap. Not such good news for VR on the PS5 though. (edited)

Are these OK to use with glasses?

Have a look on aliexpress for prescription lenses for Q2 - under £10. Got some for the Pico 4 and they are great.

Having owned the quest 1, 2 and now 3, I would seriously consider saving up a bit more for the 3.
The pancake lenses and colour passthrough really make it a winner.
Plus, as I discovered with the quest 1, some companies will stop updating the software for the older model within a couple of years and you may be left unable to play certain games.
    Fixitbob's avatar
İt's not really saving up a bit more, it's more like saving more than double the amount. I also own the Quest 1, 2 & 3, the quest 2 is still the best value for money.

    This or Apple Vision Pro?
    Fixitbob's avatar
    Or 15 Quest 2's
  9. andy_spoo's avatar
Quest 2 is NOT advanced. Quest 3 is.
    Dribbles_MacTavish's avatar
This is advanced, compared to older VR headsets, the Quest 3 is more advanced.

But agree, it didn't need to have advanced in the title

Make sure there is room in a wardrobe next to your 3D Blu Ray player, Wii U and HD DVDs for when you're bored with it after a week

Worth checking cash converters online.i recently bought a quest 3 sealed for £340 delivered to my door.they had sealed quest 2's for £180 last time i looked and if you enquire with an email theyll often knock a little more off.12 month warranty from them

2inding this, lots of people "try VR" and then lose interest, letting it sit on the shelf till they sell/get rid. It is tricky finding one in good nick as the cameras/lenses can be weak but there are some brilliant bargains on the 2nd hand market.

Will this go down much before Christmas next year do we think? Tempted to get on pay in 5 option now and tick a big present off the list but dont want to be mega pissed off around Black Friday time if it gets reduced a lot
    Jimmyboy's avatar
I'd imagine at some point they'll just stop selling it. Perhaps when the 4th one is announced they'll drop the older ones
  13. tommybuges's avatar
£184 on Very when you open a new account
  14. MarcoLoves360's avatar
Meh, just save a bit more and get a quest 3
  15. odiedodie's avatar
Advanced makes this seem like a new product. Why so misleading.
    Dribbles_MacTavish's avatar
Compared to some older "All-in-one VR headsets", this is advanced, my first "VR" experience was Google Cardboard

But agree, they didn't need to put advanced in the title
  16. Redinho's avatar
Can you do the piano and guitar lessons on this or just meta 3?

    Answered my own question

Looks okay, not sure if the 3 is worth the upgrade if that's what you really want or for (edited)
  17. jona77's avatar
It’s been as low at £200 I think but not from Amazon.
  18. Jimmyboy's avatar
Is 128gb ok or a bit limiting?
    tommybuges's avatar
    Absolutely fine
  19. Skyler85's avatar
Pay in 5 option for me
  20. OsamaBeenSaven's avatar
Would really consider the 3 (for passthrough) or waiting for the 4 (bringing eye tracking and FOV processing so will have a significantly better performance).

If you just want to dip your toes into things consider just going to a VR experience.

the issue will always be that terrible 120 hz screen
    (apple's is 90 hz.... unbelieveable)

baseline- you need 360 hz with ULMB2
digital foundry compared ULMB2 to a LG CX black frame insertion- that would be like comparing DLSS quality at 4k to a 4k tv stretching a 480p video signal to fit on a 4k screen

ULMB2 is superior to CRT motion clarity
the only way you cure motion sickness is to use it @360hz with a passthru that fast
    mrman007's avatar
Is there anything that goes at 360hz?? Thanks
  22. kratos2019's avatar
The unprecise ipd adjustment, the blurry image and terrible black levels (more like grey levels) makes this a poor device. (edited)
  23. maranthony's avatar
How is apple selling theirs for £3.5k??? This is more realistic price for something that’s a gimmick at this stage.
    Dribbles_MacTavish's avatar
Think it's safe to say that VR is no longer a gimmick. PCVR was unobtainable for most people (due to the need of a powerful gaming PC), these standalone headsets have made VR mainstream.

Given the advancements we've seen in the last 6-7 years, I'm really excited to see what the next 10 years is going to bring.
  24. SartoriX's avatar
Looks like the price has gone up again now, shame, had only just spotted this.
