sorted byThis is the CEX listing for the first iteration of PSVR (CUH-ZVR 1). This is the cheaper older iteration that had a few minor flaws.
- the processor unit apparently has issues with displaying/passing through the console's 4k and HDR together when I last read? This mainly affects things when you are playing standard non-vr games with the processor box still attached for ease of use. The processor unit is sort of meant to act as an addon that sits alongside your PS4, though it becomes a faff if you have to constantly disconnect and reconnect the unit everytime you change between PSVR and non-VR gaming. I've heard some hacky solutions that involve using hdmi splitters with one HDMI route going via the processor box and into the TV and another directly from PS4 to the TV.
The second iteration of PSVR fixed this 4k/HDR passthrough issue (CUH-ZVR2).
The pros for the CUH-ZVR1 is that its still about £10 cheaper compared to CUH-ZVR2, plus the older units these seem much better in terms of serviceability and build quality. Both the headset and especially the processor box seem to rely less on flimsy clips and seem to use more screws on the older set. And the online documentation for stuff like teardown and maintenance for the CUH-ZVR1 is much more robust.
The reason I mention serviceability is because these are 2nd hand devices that are about 7ish years old. Lord knows what people have been doing with their units to damage or get them filthy, so I do recommend giving a thorough cleanup if you can; the more parts you can disassemble and clean separatelty, the better. I made it a point to deep clean mine by tearing it down and washing as much as possible. I didn't teardown past the lenses or into the screen as this risks introducing dust and debris into the viewbox. You could do a quick job with wetwipes but that's still a bit nasty imho (mine had earwax and other mystery human crust lodged in various nooks and crannies at first... but I went for it as its lenses were scratchfree and in excellent condition). Such is the reality of looking into items that aren't being produced brand new anymore.
That said, once you get stuck into the gaming, this is excellent! Games like Astrobot, Superhot VR, the full campaign for Wipeout 2048 as a free ingame update, Driveclub VR, and also GT Sport.
In addition to the PSVR system, you'd also need a PS4 camera and a PS4 to PS5/usb adapter to connect it to your PS5. There's 2 models of PS4 camera, just get the older cheaper one (it doesn't require an additional special stand)
I think they costed £10 to £15 when I grabbed my camera last year, and the cable was under £10. I don't think Sony send the cables out for free anymore.
The PSVR system includes the processor box as part of the complete listing. CEX will sell them together.
seems the adapter campaign is still up and running (edited)
Astrobot, Resident Evil 7, Wipeout, Statik, Blood & Truth etc
Only reason i have not moved to the the PSVR 2 is there that i doe snot support said games above, apart from NMD, but no Skyrim Vr on the PS2 is just criminal, hell no psvr BC as standard on the PSVR2 is criminal.
