Does anybody actually own one of these?

I always loved the idea, I got a similar model from Amazon about 5 years ago maybe (it does look better than the one I got) but it had the same features - solar panel (which maybe added 2% battery per hour) - flashlight - wind up crank - emergency power bank etc.

I took it on a 3 day camping trip on a full charge, it died after the first day so I left outside to soak up the morning sun, started it up and it died maybe 5 minutes later, I started to use the dynamo and after 3 minutes of violent winding it gave you about 1 minute of radio.

If you had one of those burner phones and you ran out of battery, you could maybe squeeze a text out of it. Reluctant to buy again.

The next camping trip I just bought a decent power bank and charged my burner phone and plugged in my earphones. Would have lasted me a week. (edited)

I've never heard of this brand before. I can only assume this is some inferior copy of it. I would guess you can get decent ones that do work. But your going to have to do some research.

Never rely solely on Amazon reviews or recommendations.

The original wind up radio was created by Trevor baylis CBE (R.I.P) and did actually work very well for extended periods of time. en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…lis

I own one of these. Bought for £25 from Amazon earlier in the year.
    Good:
The torch is bright and has two levels plus an SOS mode
    Very solid construction
The display is easy to read
Picks up all the stations I'd expect it to
Replaceable rechargeable battery - charge via solar cell, crank, or USB

    Bad:
On mine, the aerial is very stiff and hard to extend/retract without thinking it's about to snap
The sound quality is dreadful, really really tinny - just about OK for speech
No presets, you have to scan for the station you want
One of those tiny 'which way round should it go' USB inputs for charging

    General:
The solar cell does charge the battery OK albeit slowly
Haven't tried the crank handle in earnest but seems solid enough
