M&S Launches First Pre-Loved Back-to-School Uniform Shop in Partnership With Oxfam and Ebay - Donate and get 20% off Selected Kids Clothing, thw 'Shwop Boxes' are in 200 stores nationwide.

Marks & Spencer expands long-standing Shwopping partnership with Oxfam for the Back-to-School season with dedicated school uniform Shwop boxes in over 200 stores across the UK

  • It’s the first time a national retailer, Oxfam, and eBay have come together to pilot the sale of school uniform through a pre-loved eBay school uniform shop
  • The trio are calling on consumers to donate their hand-me-down quality school uniform into M&S Shwop boxes this summer
  • Sourcing and making products that are too good to waste is core to Plan A – M&S’ sustainability programme
  • Sparks customers donating their pre-loved school uniform into one of the Shwop boxes will also receive 20% off selected kids’ clothing at M&S* *Offer cannot be used on discounted items, babywear, accessories, footwear, nightwear, underwear, school uniform and hosiery. Not valid in outlets

The only request is the clothing be of at least “hand-me-down quality”. Those who take part receive a 20% off selected kids’ ranges voucher via M&S’s Sparks loyalty card. Any profits go to Oxfam.
Today (Monday 3 July) Marks & Spencer has announced it is extending its long-standing Shwopping scheme with the roll-out of dedicated school uniform Shwop boxes in over 200 of its stores across the UK.

Collaboration for change

Through the new M&S Back-to-School Shwopping boxes, donated pre-loved school uniform - which passes the hand-me-down quality test - will be given a second life in an Oxfam shop and, for the first time, made available on a dedicated pre-loved school uniform shop on eBay.

By partnering with eBay, M&S and Oxfam hope the pilot shop will mean even more families can access affordable, great quality school uniform – no matter where they live or how they choose to shop.

Every school uniform sale - whether through Oxfam’s shops or via the eBay shop - will raise funds to support the vital work the charity does to tackle poverty and inequality around the world, including supporting communities on the front line of climate change. Any school uniform that can’t be resold in Oxfam shops or on eBay will be recycled or reused wherever possible.

Hand-me-down quality at trusted value

As the market-leader in school uniform – selling nearly seven million pieces of school uniform a year – M&S understands that it is an essential purchase for millions of families every year.

Customers trust M&S to offer true value for money and create products which don’t cost the earth. That’s why it has protected the price on school uniform for a third year in a row – without compromising on the ‘hand-me-down’ quality M&S is known for. Made with care - utilising recycled materials or sustainable alternatives - M&S school uniform features stain resistant materials and adjustable hems and waistbands that grow with the child – to ensure that even when it’s outgrown, it’s too good to waste – making it ideal for resale or recycling.

In our city, a community group set up a uniform scheme to pass on expensive school uniform that had the school crest on it to younger children.

The response of some high schools after 1½ years of this successful scheme? They changed the colour scheme and crests! Disgusting (edited)

So bad in a cost of living crisis , they should be assisting parents / carers not putting them in to further debt

Exactly this, don't get me wrong it sounds like a great idea but why not on new uniform, we get our little boys pants and shirts from m and s, would happily donate them again next week when he grows out of them lol

Not sure if a kids one, but Sutton has a swap box like that that offers a 'gift' when donating.

Just FYI though, the gift is a QR code printed on the box that you can scan with (or without) donating. Clearly best to donate

So will they not be doing their usual 20% off offer this year without donating?

M&S 20% off uniform has started today, no donation needed to get the promotion. (We donated our uniform to our school, they have a day at the end of summer help yourself day which is very popular)

We have daughter starting all girls school. Everything including p.e kit needs the school logo on it. On top of uniform have to buy new plain black coat and hat scarf gloves all with no motif or slogan. Don't think they can wear coat or have school bag inside the premises as they have a locker so why do they care about a logo

Anyone know when will the event end?
