Come on everyone, this is for the 32GB (not 16GB) cellular (4G - LTE version!) Nexus 7 (2013, latest version)!!!

*Please use Quidco for cashback, rather than TopCashBack. TCB showing a message where cashback "may" not be possible if Refresh contract is cancelled within 6 months. Quidco does NOT display such a message. So Quidco would be the safer option. http://www.quidco.com/o2-contract-tablets-mobile-broadband/*

Using a combination of the O2 refresh tariff and O2 priority moments offer, the tablet is available for £120.

The link takes you straight to the page where the O2 priority moments offer is included. Just select the 5GB tariff with no upfront payment. Once you've purchased the tablet and have had it delivered, give O2 a call and cancel the contract (make sure you don't use the airtime allowance!). You'd be asked to pay off the device contract which will be £5x24 = £120! The airtime contract will be cancelled automatically and you'll not be charged anything for this. Just make sure you call up and cancel as soon as you receive the tablet and that you do NOT use any of the airtime allowance. I have taken part in these refresh deals before and have never had to pay any airtime - only the device contract. IT IS LEGIT.

Cashback potentially also available from TopCashBack and Quidco. £31.50 with TCB and £30 from Quidco. Please see above for warning on which cashback website to use.
Quidco state cashback payment is made within 4 weeks, so worth a go if your cashback gets confirmed before you cancel the contract!

Phoned 0344 809 0202, typed in the device number, selected option 2, then 2 (I want to leave O2), tell them you would like to pay off the remaining balance on the refresh account. They will ask you for your number again, confirm it's £120, then take a card payment for the balance. The woman I spoke to also confirmed there will be no cancellation fee and there will be no airtime to pay (after I asked her to cancel that too). All good so far :). Will keep an eye out for anything else leaving my account and heading o2's way. Thanks again op.

    UPDATE:
    MyO2 showing:
    Device Plan
Your Device Plan has been settled.

It is still showing a balance of just over £15 to be collected some time December so will be keeping an eye on that.

Expecting a bill for £0 in next 14 days, will cancel DD tomorrow. Up to you whether you leave this in place and risk O2 collecting something they shouldn't and hassle of reclaim,
Against a possible mark against your credit. I don't believe a DD bouce impacts on your credit so I'll cancel mine tomorrow.
    Device is not locked.

    UPDATE 2:
pretty gutted for those that didn't get it, but anyone lucky enough to get one, but still has an outstanding amount in the Disconnected Bill's section of O2 (something like £15.48), using the online chat, I got:
    Manjo: at 13:17:51
I've checked as it's just a normal bill so please ignore it and a final bill will be generated after 14 days where all the adjustments will be done. And same will be nullified.

This is cold. As sidewinder says, when you click through from TCB you get a pop up saying:

    Just so you know...
Please note - cashback will NOT be paid to O2 customers who pay off or cancel a Refresh PAYM contract before the 6 month validation period is completed.

    Looks pretty convincing to me.

Actually with hindsight, perhaps I'm being a little harsh. £120 is still a good price even without the cashback.

I have been warning since page 1 that this isn't over when you think it is.They have your Bank details and will come collecting, even a cancelled DD will get opened again and paid. Yes, you need to set up a direct debit first. Once you receive the tablet, you call O2 up and can then pay off the whole contract for the device with a credit card.

    Why ??

Because until the deal's over I have to close HUKD in small number of seconds before the justifications start stacking up. I can't root my Nexus because SkyGo won't work, professionals need data, it's less than I paid fo rmy current one, see.... they're stacking up already.

Tell me when it's over so I can come back to hukd please, pretty please just let me know when it's expired

Well thats why a direct debit guarantee states any mistake then your bank must make a full and immediate refund. If 02 take money from your bank with out giving you 21 days notice or it is for the wrong amount your bank has to refund you there and then and its the banks job to chase 02

If you do then you are in for a whole world of grief. You are absolutely barking mad IMO ...... cancelling is never easy, they will also charge you £199:99 for the Nexus - that's how I read it.Having their telephone operators saying one thing and then another lends me to believe that grief awaits those sorry souls who think this will work out .....

I have always been charged the pro-rata 2 days of airtime when I cancel O2 refresh deals in the past. It's less than 50p a day for this deal, so just pay it and don't get your self into a mess. They'll take the full month but can easily be claimed back once final bill generated in December.

Just had a chat with "Doug" to ask about my delivery to store... not impressed :O(

Took an absolute age to type any responses and then came out with the immortal "it's cancelled itself today"!!!!

I asked what that meant and he typed, "Not to worry about it, call 202 and they will help you with it."

    How do I call 202 without the O2 tablet/phone I ordered?

    Just an update:

after receiving the Nexus 7, cancelled 2 days after, didn't even use the sim. At the time I paid off the device, then cancelled the airtime, I was told I would have to pay a few days line rental at the time, argued that it was within 14 days but just thought nothing of it as it was a few pounds. Cancelled my DD though before this happened.

Once the date passed of my first bill and payment, I received another bill for around £300 including the device charge, went on the chat and told o2 that I shouldn't have any charges, as I cancelled, agreed and told me to wait 3 days.

Just had the bill received, need to make a payment of 1p!!!

Thanks OP! This is now the 2nd refresh deal I've benefited from after an S4 refurb last year, they definitely do work!

Did it give me any worry? No.
Did it take hours of my life? No. One phone call, lasting approximately 10 minutes.
Is 4G important? To some, yes. That's why this deal is posted.
Is 32GB important? To many, yes.
Do I have a life? Yes, still breathing.

With the combination of 32GB internal storage and cellular access, you can rest assured that this will have a far greater resale value than yours (which will be greater than the price difference in purchase).

So the cost will jump from £120 to £168 even if you cancel the contract immediately after receiving it.
