ABOUT THE PATAGONIA FIELDSMITH LID 28:
The Fieldsmith Lid Day Pack from Patagonia is a superb bag for urban commutes but versatile enough to take sightseeing, hiking or as a bit of airplane carry-on.

The Fieldsmith features a spacious 28L main compartment for all your gear, with a lid opening with its own pocket for those quick-grab essentials. In the main compartment, you'll find a padded laptop sleeve designed to hold most 15" laptops and dedicated internal organisation pockets to separate certain bits of gear from others. So no more wading through the entire bag for that one item!

True to their ethos of social and environmental awareness, Patagonia has ensured the pack is made of 100% recycled polyester, making it really tough and hard-wearing for frequent travellers. It also features light weather protection with a polyurethane coating and a DWR (durable water-repellent) finish and is Fair Trade Certified™ sewn.

Lowdown:
Body: 6.2-oz 600-denier 100% recycled polyester (solution-dyed) with a PU coating and a PFC-free DWR finish (durable water repellent coating that does not contain perfluorinated chemicals)
Lining: 3-oz 200-denier 100% recycled polyester with a PU coating
Webbing: 100% recycled nylon
Cord: 100% recycled polyester
Volume: 28 Litres
Weight: 520 g (18,34 oz)
Laptop Sleeve: Internal 15" padded sleeve in main compartment
Pockets: Zippered exterior front and lid pockets keep small items secure and close at hand; Internal organisation pocket separates smaller items so they don't get lost among gear in the main compartment
Features:
Fair Trade Certified™ sewn

You only get the lifetime warranty from a direct purchase from Patagonia. From anywhere else you will be fobbed off with the minimum protection offered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (in UK).

And even then Patagonia no longer exchange, you get a full refund for it. But if it was 20 years ago, it won't cover the price of a new one.

Edit: OK found out that Patagonia will attempt to repair, not exchange (subject to review) no matter where you bought it: customers.eu.patagonia.com/en-…rs/ (edited)

Weird that on the official site it says

Ironclad Guarantee We guarantee everything we make. If you are not satisfied with one of our products at the time you receive it, or if one of our products does not perform to your satisfaction, return it to the store you bought it from or to Patagonia for a repair, replacement or refund.

Great bag, I've had it for 2-3 years and it has travelled abroad with me, been used as a daily bag for carrying my laptop etc when cycling to work, used for weekend walks and hikes with the family. It is great, buy it.

The top of the bag has a concealed zip storage area which I only discovered after a year. Brilliant for travelling and popping the passport etc. in to. Best bag I've ever owned. (edited)

I bought one 2 months ago for £45. Good strong, and lightweight. Handbagage on my flight to Costa Rica and dragged it round for a month.
Minor criticism is there's no pocket on the side for a water bottle but they are very trendy!

"Exchanges: We do not do direct exchanges. Please return your item for a refund and place a new order online."

Why would Absolute Snow refund you? They are not Patagonia.

I have the older named model of this, it’s a great bag for the price, comfortable on the back and deceptively large inside. There is no real organisation though so packing cubes if you care about that sort of thing

Does anybody know how the dimensions on these are for hand luggage only on flights on Ryanair?

    48,2 x 26,7 x 12,7 cm

    Good deal bruh

Found the dimension from patagonia official website which quotes "Dimensions: 48,2 x 26,7 x 12,7 cm"

if I multiply them up they come to slightly over 16L of volume, that's quite far from 28L. Anyone knows what am I missing please...?

Has anyone got this bag or had the bag delivered by now to take actual measurements please?

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance!

I have it and it (the older model and name but same dimensions) it holds way more than 16L (edited)

I couldn’t find the measurements but I’m presuming this counts as a small bag on a low-cost flight?

Does anyone know if this will fit a 16inch macbook?
    lolcatmaroon123's avatar
I would think this will fit a new 16inch MacBook Pro as the chassis is slim and the bezel around the screen is too. Therefore these laptops are about the same dimensions as a typical 15 inch budget laptop. Look up the dimensions and you'll see what I mean.
