£192 at Cotswold Outdoor, down from £320. Only Navy colour, all sizes available

Patagonia's Mens Lone Mountain Parka is a technically-tuned, insulated shelter from cold, wet conditions.
The wet-weather performance starts with a 2-layer H2No Performance Standard shell fabric made from partially recycled nylon that’s waterproof, windproof and breathable. Inside, a recycled polyester taffeta lining glides smoothly over layers and manages moisture when the pace quickens. Insulated with highly efficient recycled Thermogreen polyester insulation, the Lone Mountain feels soft and keeps you warm. A storm flap secures with hidden snaps, covering the 2-way front zipper to keep out snow and wind, an insulated, adjustable hood protects your head, zippered handwarmer pockets lined with soft Microfleece warm your hands, and an internal zippered media-compatible pocket keeps your phone secure.

I have this - insulation keeps you nice and warm (although no way to cinch around waist means gusts can make their way up to you when it’s windy). Was incredibly waterproof for ~ 2 years but now can get a bit sodden. Hood quite tight. Overall recommend

Mine arrived today. The outer is like a brushed cotton rather than a synthetic material (although I believe it is actually synthetic) so I can see how the waterproofing could degrade. Have you tried treating it to restore it.
The overall effect is more country jacket than North Face of the Eiger, but that suits me - it’s a winter walk coat rather than an Arctic survival piece!

Just wondering if anyone's relative has this coat?

    No cool ones.

M and L gone... Annoying as I've been on the lookout for a toasty winter jacket despite the current weather.

Could this be used as a skiing coat?

Not sure. Could get quite warm skiing in something like this. Not sure if it has underarm zips to help keep cool.
