If you were to buy this for the PS VR2, how accessible are the cars to just pick up and play? Loath to spend loads of time or money when I just want a pick up and play in various cool cars. Heard various reports it’s pay to unlock?

Individual cars cost in-game money. Some of them, a lot of it. You can buy in-game money with real money.

But I’ve never had to; I played through the entire single player campaign only having to buy one car (rather than driving ones it had given me as unlocks for winning previous races) and that’s where it hands you a bunch of credits to go through a store tutorial.

As long as you have PS+ then you can also play the online races - in order to ensure fairness you can borrow whatever car the present race or time trial requires there.

Tempted but I can see this hitting PS Plus premium at some point
