Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday's contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.

Hidden within Halliday's vaults, waiting for his heir to find it, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous - and addictive - than even Wade dreamed possible.

With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest: a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.

And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who'll kill millions to get what he wants.

Wade's life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.

The books go overboard on the 80's \ 90's nostalgia, but they are WAY better than the movie.

    Hot.

To be honest I treat the books and the movie as two completely separate things. I struggled with the movie after enjoying the book, but as a standalone film it's pretty enjoyable.

For me the best way of experiencing these was with Wil Wheaton narrating. I spent about a fortnight of commuting listening to them and it was brilliant.

I still prefer player one rather than player two (I think player two has a little 'too much' nostalgia if that is such a thing?) but they're still worth a read if you're old enough to remember the references.

Is this a bad book, or just not as good as the first? Have read very mixed things. Loved the first, is this worth a read at 99p?

Not a bad book at all, in fact it's a good story that I thoroughly enjoyed although it maybe went on a little too long.

The biggest problem it has is that it has to follow one of the best modern science fiction books written in the last twenty years. That was a high bar it was almost certainly never going to get over.

99p? A complete and utter bargain.

Didn't find this nearly as good as ready player one. However that was a high mark to hit. Ready player one is a great book.

He also has a book called Armada, which is almost as good as Ready Player One.

Absolutely terrible compared to the first.
Even when compared to Armada this is shockingly bad.

The first book was a phenomenal read, this just fell flat for me. Didn't like most of the new characters or the changes to the old ones. The whole Prince plot line was utter crap and overall the book was a massive let down.

Thankfully if they ever do make this into a film it will likely require more changes than the first to get it to the screen so perhaps that will redeem it .....

For that much it would be cheaper to get it with an Audible credit.

I got it on launch and thought it was really bad when compared to the first - that being said, you can't really lose out when it's less than a quid!

Agree with most of the comments here. RP1 is great, RP2 is good, but a bit 'too much' in places. Still a good read, especially for a quid!

Couldn't finish this - the Audiobook anyway.

Got half way through and had enough. From what I remember, the undertones of our current society and social political topics was always a talking point or a focus, despite being far away in the future where you would assume its a thing of "the past". Things we ponder over now, will be insignificant in 50 years from now.

Really enjoyed the first book though
