Gdańsk is a port city on the Baltic coast of Poland. At the center of its Main Town, reconstructed after WWII, are the colorful facades of Long Market, now home to shops and restaurants. Nearby is Neptune Fountain, a 17th-century symbol of the city topped by a bronze statue of the sea god. Gdańsk is also a center for the world’s amber trade; boutiques throughout the city sell the ossified resin.

Why do you feel like you have to add (Danzig in German) to a Polish city?

    Part of it's history.

It's very Copenhagen on waterfront..walnut vodka is lush! Loved the cellar bars, hotel was really good and breakfast was awesome, rooms have WiFi hand held devices, act as guide camera etc, Samsung thing, saves taking phone out if you don't want. Go! Sopot on train a must too

Well worth a visit. Went there during our - "Where can we go from Bristol - let's go there" phase. Imagined Soviet architecture, grey shipyards and Solidarity so we were a bit dubious. Lech Walesa still turns up in the office occasionally and the shipyards are still there but there is so much more. The old city is centred around a lovely Hansiatic port and has been completely rebuilt following its levelling at the end of WW2. Cheap as chips and I really like the people - I generally find Polish people very polite, friendly and helpful. Sopot is well worth a day trip but there are 2 different train lines with two different types of ticket - get it wrong and you risk a fine. Avoid the dock boat trip unless you particularly like the smell of diesel but be sure to do a walking tour.

Anyone got any experience with WizzAir? Was thinking of heading to Poland myself and WizzAir has the best prices, but i’ve seen some horrible reviews of them

Hi Matt. Yes, I have used them for over 20 times, never had an issue myself. I know it's really difficult to contact their customer service, but personally I never had to get in touch with them, so I cannot give you an opinion on that.

Superb City to visit, one of Europe's biggest secrets.

It will always be Danzig to me and was high on my bucket list of places to visit, been several times now and hope to visit again.

You better don't say Danzig when you are there.

Suspect that's why the airline is not mentioned in the title or description by the OP!
