I never had an issue with the 4Amp version but the 8Amp one will obviously be better for cars and this is a good price and it will likely go up significantly heading into winter. Turns out I can't buy it on the GSF deal as they want to charge me an obscene Northern Ireland surcharge for postage and don't have any stock in local stores.
Note that you can buy Harness cable adapters that fit the ring unit and are very handy for equipment such as motorbikes and generators where the battery is difficult to access. Money well spent for the amount of grief saved.
