Nice work! It has been out for a few years now hasn’t it? I purchased one to replace my boya bymm1, sound quality is definitely much clearer and the dead cat works very well in comparison. What do you mainly use yours for?

People are definitely still using shotgun mics Anytime you see one of those long furry things on a pole or next to a football pitch, that's a shotgun mic. Most of the mics on news cameras are also shotguns.

A tip: If you want to plug this into an iPhone you probably need to order two cables as iPhones have a different conection.

Also if you plan on using it on your mobile or gopro with the cat (the fury thing) I sugest getting an extending arm or you may find the cat is that big you record it.

I swear by the Rode Stereo videomic pro. I have one of these, its OK but you get what you pay for. Cost me £40 years ago this wee chap.

Good little on camera mic, although a bit lacking in bass due to a permanent "windcut" filter cutting a lot of the audio below 150Hz.

It has held price well, but there a few similar models which are more up to date, in particular the Deity D4 Mini, which has a TRRS phone cable in the box (this doesn't, that needs to be bought separately) and a 3.5mm input jack for a second mic (recording on the right channel), which allows that to be used as a safety mic or a second mic. The VideoMicro created a whole genre, but it is showing it's age.
