Any good or too overkill for felting the shed roof?
    Thoughtful's avatar
Zinc plated clout nails for this I'm afraid, there are products made for specific reasons this is one of them. You need that big head to stop the felt from tearing.
  2. garryc1981's avatar
At thos price this is a no brainer. Even for light DIY this is a bargain.
    jerrysimon's avatar
Yes I’m in the Dewalt eco but this looks like a bargain compared!

Mine arrived yesterday, took me a while to get it to work... I was doing everything correct, I was starting to think maybe it was broken! It seems that when you load a new set of nails in you might need to try a lot of times (this does happen in the review above, but I had to try more than 10 times to get the first nail out). Once the first one is out it works consistently.

Just thought I'd mention incase anyone has the same problem!

Borrowed a friends and they're game changing. You'll probably use it more than you think.

Air Strike? Can I shoot one of those balloons down with this?
    r200ti's avatar
Nah, youll need the unique $100m all singing all dancing version. Just make sure you dont use it for anything other than balloons.

Best ever price? Not sure it’s worth getting as I already have the 16G, however.

On Amazon, yes. It was the same price August last year direct from Ryobi

I bought the Einhell 18G nailer a few weeks ago for £56 and it is excellent. Doesn't shoot 50mm nails like this, max is 32mm, but a drastic price drop for somebody looking for a budget nailer. I already have batteries for some garden tools, but Einhell batteries are also much cheaper than Ryobi and a lot of the time come free with quite cheap tools. (edited)

Can you use it for fencing?

    No nails are too thin

Anyone have an opinion on this Vs the recent Aldi nail gun, bearing in mind this would be my first Ryobi and so would need to buy into the battery system. Thanks!
    matty_hunt's avatar
The reviews on the Aldi gun are favorable. I purchased one last week. It arrived, I opened the box, the gun and part of the case was covered in oil. Leaked from the back of the gun. Ferrex customer services said others had rang with the same issue but that some oil was not a problem, indeed expected (??) but if I felt there was too much I should return it, which I did. New one coming next week so we will see what it is like. The Ryobi is a popular choice, but you need the batteries and charger. At least the Aldi one comes with that, all be it 1.5ah battery. But the sort of use I suspect mine will get, the Aldi one if fine. Plus extra 6% off via Topcashback at the mo as Aldi online is a new partner to TCB.

Came up with this when doing a price search - not sure if you'd find it in stores (OOS online), worth looking if you're swinging by a Homebase, maybe? homebase.co.uk/ryo…tml49538143-x1Yp6.jpg
    fjal's avatar
Homebase no longer sells Ryobi. These are from when they were clearing out stock, it was a glorious time. I got a drill press and vacuum for almost nothing.

I’m planning on doing some wall panelling so so I don’t know whether the 16g would be better. My other concern is that all my walls are plastered and majority are also plaster on brick. Does anyone know if the 18g would go through plaster? I’d be putting no more nails or similar so it’s more to pull the panelling tight against the wall.
    chris.beck's avatar
I used the 18g to fix picture rails (in combination with grip fill). It easily copes with plaster (not brick though so use appropriate length pins!).
  12. Thoughtful's avatar
Make sure you use appropriate nails, there are zinc plated not plated at all and stainless available, the stainless cost a little more but will do all applications and will never rust.

I have this, and it's very good. So good I would like the 15 gauge one. Anyone seen any deals?

    Cheers Si

Got one of them and its absolutelly briliant , I must have fired about 10 k nails so far and it jammed handfull of times .
  15. gazza40's avatar
Held off buying for as long as I could but at this price just had to go for it. Great deal thanks Frank30uk
  16. BrianButterfield's avatar
Can you use these to snipe people like in games?
  17. fussycool's avatar
Also look at badaptor to use existing non Ryobi batteries. I use Bosch batteries with my ryobi gear.
  18. shumboom's avatar
I had this until it got stolen. I haven't missed it as i seemed to look for jobs that justified the purchase. Waiting for the 16g version to hammer some big nails in
  19. alictait's avatar
Don’t need, bought anyway . Thanks OP
  20. jerrysimon's avatar
Always fancied a nail gun but can’t really justify it for diy 😞

Seemed to have come down in price the last few years
    IrishMan's avatar
I have this, not a "proper" nailer, they are bringing one out in America this year.
  21. robti's avatar
What jobs could you use this for ?
    chris.beck's avatar
I've used mine for attaching trims around the house and woodworking for glue-ups (just a small hole left which can be filled).
  22. G1kyp's avatar
What’s the difference with this and the r18gn18-0
  23. AuldHairyBaws's avatar
Bargain! Paid £180 for mine. Great bit of kit.
    G1kyp's avatar
Ryobi sell two 18g any idea the difference
  24. Tensketch's avatar
Got a few jobs around the house to do. Skirting boards need replacing after doing laminate, wife wants to do some coving and wall panels and I am close to biting the bullet on getting a bigass shed built in my garden.

I was gonna get the 16g but this price is giving me pause. Will this do what I need?
    G1kyp's avatar
Same dilemma as me… from the responses above sounds like the 18g will do it all for you just use some no more nails or similar as well
  25. gordon.anderson's avatar
The 16g are slightly thicker than the 18g I have both
    BeerGoggles's avatar
I can only justify getting one nail gun. Would I be right in saying the 16g is a better all rounder?
  26. r200ti's avatar
These can stick and stop working mind. Cleaning them out fixes it, but its annoying.
    fjal's avatar
Yeah they need a spritz of silicon near the firing pin every now and again. Okay if you're in a workshop, not so much if you're somewhere else firing off dozens of nails then it suddenly clogs.
  27. PC101's avatar
Are these fussy about brand of nails?

Whats the cheapest way to get battery and charger ATM? Buy a drill bundle and sell bare drill etc ? (edited)

Bought sn attachment on amazon for £20 to use my makita battery. Nails I used TACWISE 0401 Type 18G amzn.eu/d/d…erv

TACWISE 0401 Type 18G / 50 mm Galvanised Brad Nails, Silver, 5000 Pack amzn.eu/d/h…2y8 (edited)
  28. BuffMan's avatar
    Thanks bought.

Is there was a recommended depth of nails dependant on what I want to pin eg I know it goes up to 50mm but could i use say 35mm nails for pinning 11mm stripwood? (25mm embedment) I'd probably use glue as well
    Szim's avatar
I always double the size of pinned material. for instance I would use minimum 35mm nail to pin into 18 mm material. Also 18g brads are not used for strength to hold the material. they are mostly used to hold glue'ups. (edited)

Where can u buy nails from
    Gary_Stringer's avatar
    I get mine from toolstation.
  30. aidan_brennan's avatar
Great nailer, use on diy projects. No issues
  31. discobob's avatar
    I have the 18 and 16 - both good
I also have the Hikoki first fix nailer that is going to be used to build a shed.
  32. SnapCAPon's avatar
    Heat from me
  33. andy_spoo's avatar
I did not realise how slow these are until watching the video, compared to an air compressor type.
If you are doing 50+ nails in one go you are really going to notice the speed lag.
  34. CheapLife's avatar
I bought one from Amazon US a couple years ago and it's just a huge time saver. I built a shed and did some fencing and it really was great for that. I'm a DIY so not a professional but for me it more than paid for itself. Only issue I had is it randomly stopped firing and I had to drip some 3in1 oil into it. Then it was fine

Hi all, looks like I've missed this deal now, but I recently bought the Bauker impact from another deal and I'm struggling to find a battery adapter quoting Bauker, but would this Worx one work?

    ebay.co.uk/itm…OPY

    Thank you.
