Presumably these old trackers are being cleared-out ahead of the new Android-wide alternative implementation.

which old ones? these are new ones. they are not clearing anything. What Samsung and Google have to do is harmonise 'find my device' app and the Samsung Find app, and put them under one roof as they did with Quick Share and Wear OS.

the smarttag2 is feature-packed already, hardware-wise, it is eligible for 'find my device' rollout by Google. even the soon-to-be-released Chipolo tags won't come with a UWB chip 🤷🏾‍♂️

Google waited over a year for Apple to fulfil their part of the privacy loopholes. after the Apple rollout to detect Android tags, it's a no-brainer that Samsung will be forced to unify under Google's 'find my device' to defeat app overlaps/conflicting apps from the same OS (edited)

the battery might have come dead. it happens to even apple airtags, i have read their reviews b4, go under amazon airtag reviews, u will hear similar stories. could be their first batch of the product, cos they were released around summer last year and the battery lasts 12 months ish.

Probably better off waiting and getting chipolo point now that android has its own airtag

will come more expensive with less specs, only advantage for now is the latest find my device software that works across android, no matter the phone makers. I am pretty sure Sammy won't sit on their backside and watch others take full advantage of something that Google themselves might exploit, by making their own tags in near future. (edited)
