About this deal

I have bought these for traveling and can confirm they work perfectly in my luggage and bags.
This is the lowest I have been able to buy these for:

1x White £21.25 - amazon.co.uk/gp/…1K7
1x Black - £22.92 amazon.co.uk/gp/…FKY
4x Pack/ 2 White / 2 Black £77.99 - amazon.co.uk/gp/…W4M

What is the SmartTag2 and why use it?
The Galaxy SmartTag2 is a compact gadget that can easily be stored in a suitcase, backpack, or even attached to smaller items like a phone bag, thanks to the keyring feature on the interchangeable covers. It is currently only compatible with Samsung Galaxy Smartphones loaded with the SmartThings Find app.
These are a vast improvement on the V1 Smart tags and also have the VR to find things in real time.

How do they work
  • They work with Samsung Phones and Samsung Tablets / other devices which can sign into Samsung
  • They are not a GPS tracker, rather if they come into contact with phones, they update their position
  • There is a small CR2032 battery inside which lasts ~6 months or so from my use and online comments and is easily changeable. Official is 500 days run time.

How do the compare to Apple Tags
  • I tested these versus Apple Tags and the Samsung SmartTag2s updated more often, had a more accurate location update and the App interface made it easier to be guided to them.

About this item
  • Enhanced battery life: SmartTag2 luggage tracker with up to 500 days of lifespan, Power Saving Mode extending it by up to 40%, ensures reliable tracking on your journeys¹
  • Durable and water-resistant design: With an IP67 rating, the SmartTag2 is built to withstand dust and water, making it a robust and convenient travel companion² ³ ⁴
  • Find it in lost mode: When Lost Mode is activated, the Galaxy smart tag's NFC (Near Field Communication) displays your registered contact information and message on the finder's smartphone, regardless of the OS⁵
  • Compass mode: Switch on Search Nearby to get intuitive step-by-step instructions via Compass View, or opt for Ring Your Tag to have your smart tracker audibly signal its whereabouts to help you locate it effortlessly⁶ ⁷ ⁸

Are they better than the Apple Air tags please? I'm looking to buy one to use in my car as a GPS tracker. Don't have an iPhone / samsung device. Might buy one based on which ever is better.. TIA

Airtags are much better as they use all iphones. These ones are samsung only, but in the next month or two the google find device network is rolling out and new tags will be released that use all android devices so will have significantly more coverage. It's pointless getting these now.

In my opinion it just also looks better and easier to use due to the shape

    Pasted from online:
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 has an oblong shape with a bigger keyring, enforced with a metal insert to protect against wear.
The new model also boasts improved build quality with an IP67 rating instead of IP53. Beyond the exterior design, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 offers a couple of new modes and way better battery life.

The Galaxy SmartTag 2 makes the original models look like a toyHardware-wise, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 offers Bluetooth and UWB connectivity by default. Two years ago, UWB connectivity was reserved for the SmartTag+ variant, but that division no longer exists for the 2023 sequel.

Samsung improved the battery life for the SmartTag 2, and the tracker can now last up to 700 days (up from 165 – 300) through a brand-new Power Saving Mode. Even with this mode turned off, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 can last up to 500 days on a new battery.

Another new mode introduced by the Galaxy SmartTag 2 is Lost Mode, which allows pet owners to embed a message into the location tracker. This message, which can contain personal information, such as a phone number, can be read by anyone with an NFC-enabled phone. And speaking of pets, the SmartTag 2 supports a new pet walking mode that makes it easier for users to log pet walks.

The SmartTag 2 also enables an improved Compass View feature for easier tracking through UWB. And last but not least, Samsung made it easier for users to re-sync their Tags when switching Galaxy phones. The new Tag can automatically re-sync with your new phone if you're logged in with the same Samsung account.

Wish they did these without the big loop because that would be half the size and ideal for pet collars. I thought the loop was a clever way to hide a big anteanna but after watching a teardown of it it looks like the loop does nothing.

Do they only work with Samsung phones?

    Yes. Useless with anything else.

I've just used a samsung tag on a trip to Cyprus and haven't found it to be the best. Looking back on the journey, the info is quite sparse and little detail. Maybe I'm using it wrong somehow. Was going to buy more but changed my mind currently and will wait for googled version to be releases so I can try it.
However if you want to know right now where the tab is right now then it's quite accurate so long as a samsung phone is nearby

It requires other Samsung phones to pass by which pick up the tag and update the location of it. They're not going to be super accurate, and they don't update the location that often, but should be enough to get you close. I have one on my cat, and can always find the cat.

Dead in the water now the google find my device network is rolling out, if it's like the iphone ones then the Eufy ones will be £13.99 and infinitely better.
