Is this a new budget model or is the naming convention not what I was expecting?

New drone. Essentially mini 2se with 4k sensor from what I have read. Newest budget/entry level
  2. _Sparky_'s avatar
"The new Mini 4K will support 4K video resolution at 24, 25, and 30fps - and 2.7K at up to 60fps. Other features which represent an improvement over the Mini 2 SE that DJI has announced include digital zoom of 2x at 4K, and a video bitrate of up to 100mbps."

I still have a DJI Spark. Not used for years but I used to love flying it about and would like to have another go. Would this be a worthy upgrade or should I pay a bit more for the Mini 3?
    rodney_jxl's avatar
Ive got a Spark and only upgraded recently as I found a good deal on a 3 Pro and because I had a play on a Mini 2 SE which I thought was such an improvement over the spark. I like how you can fold it up to make fairly compact when travelling, the battery like seemed so much better than the Spark but what I was most surprised about was how much more quiet it sounded compared to the SPark. I probably would have got the Mini 2 SE but wanted the 4k, this unit would have fit my requirements pretty much perfectly

Why do they always quote unrealistic battery figures. Laptops etc. also.
    ebury's avatar
Same as men do with measurements
  5. johnox's avatar
Go for the flymore kit as you will definitely need the extra batteries as the flying time quoted is very optimistic. 15 minutes is about average I've found
    CyDoNiA's avatar
You definitely want more batteries as with one you will fly for maybe 15-20 minutes and then ya done. So if you travel somewhere you want to be able to fly for more than that.

Also you don't really want to re-fly on a half depleted battery as it's a bit too risky.

Also if you are recording video for the whole flight it will chew through battery faster than just a few photos. (edited)

How does this compare to the DJI Mini 2 4K drone? Looks like it's the same product but they've dropped the "2" in the product name and it's new product again. lol (edited)
    Thuggishging33_'s avatar
    Rebadged haha
  7. Thuggishging33_'s avatar
Not a bad drone really. Just be aware that it is a rebadged mini 2 . Not to be confused with the lesser mini 2 se (edited)
  8. James_Spendlove's avatar
Check out very as I ordered the mini 2 se and got 20% off it as a new customer. Saved £58

CORRECTION - Turns out it does do 60fps @ 2.7k! Amazon description doesnt seem to mention it.

As great a deal as this is (and it really is)..... there is no 60fps..... I just can no longer persuade myself to record video of people / sports / events etc in 30fps.... its just not the same..... call me a fps snob, I care not, once you've got used to 60, there is no going back to 30.

Still voted hot for those who can cope with 30. (edited)
    Willy_Wonka's avatar
I watched a video of a guy filming basketball in various speeds & so long as the shutter speed is about double the fps it all looked good.

As a user that only recently purchased a used Mini 3 Pro Im hoping this model doesnt have the new follow me functionality and side sensors

This new unit it pretty much all I need in a drone tbh now that it has 4K and is a very reasonable price point

    Interested to know this too

£399 for the 'fly more combo' with 3 batteries and a charging hub.
Looks like a great product. It's a little smaller than the Mini 3 or 4 which can be useful

Had a wild thought that this drone chassis reminds me of GTA 5, just seems to span many generations, yet ever popular

Anyone seen any good deals on a DJI Mini 3 Pro? I find it strange that this seems to be the only model that seems to be sold out most places.

I had one but crashed into a Loch....so ideally I'd get another one since I have the accessories and the controller with the screen.

I got a good deal on a "Like New" on Amazon and it was DOA so kind of put off buying refurbished ones.
    Walkerscrisp's avatar
Ah bad news about crashing it. Genuinely interested in how you crashed it. I'm thinking of getting one although a total newbie to these and that's my biggest concern (losing it or crashing it). Was it user error, ie your own fault, or did it malfunction in some way that caused you some difficulty controlling it?

Anyone know where these can be flown in the UK and what the legislations are? I understand you have to register them and display a flyer ID but I can't seem to find any clear information about where they can be flown

    Under 249g you don't need a license

I was just looking at the DJI website and it pretty much shows the Mini 3 Pro as out of stock. Not sure if this is a sourcing issue or is DJI just trying to realign the different tiers of the Mini series?

Bought a Mini 2 from CEX for £245 with 2 year warranty. Listed as B but arrived and was new but box had been opened.

How does this compare to the DJI mini 3 pro?

I am planning on buying for my gf but want the follow me
    LD2DVD's avatar
From what I have read, if you have not got a 3 Pro, then most people say get 4 Pro. Costs more but nothing worse than buying something and thinking you should have got the better model. Ends up more expensive when you upgrade.
  22. greenflower123's avatar
is this better than a mini 3?
  23. hedgemonkey9874's avatar
Is this not simply a Mavic Mini 2?
  24. Passionpantz's avatar
Does the camera have zoom in function on this model?

Worth noting that none of the 3,852 4.6/5 global ratings on scAmazon actually relate to the Mini 4k when you apply the filter as it was only first made available to buy yesterday 29 April 2024.

Amazon apparently have zero tolerance for fake fake reviews but they seemingly don't mind misleading ones for "Amazon Exclusive" sponsored products . The Mini 4k has only been/ launched released for sale on Amazons global websites, can't even buy it on DJI's own online store.

Good entry price for 4k DJI drone, however other 4k budget drones like the Potensic, Holy Stone etc are often cheaper again.
