The price I would expect to pay for a camera released 8.5 years ago. Good if this is what you need.

Cameras don't depreciate as much sadly. I have a samsung NX1 that I rescued from salt water damage, its supposed to be discontinued but is still expensive even used and was released in 2014

Decent enough deal with the lens. But if you decide on Sony, then myself personally wouldn't go for anything older than A7III or A7RIII. They were not good prior to those two models. (edited)

I've got the Rii and it is good. It's not great, but it's defo worthy of good. It's a bit slow but eye AF works ok, image quality is just as good as the Riii (same sensor), I've never had an issue with battery life (probs the most common complaint) and I actually prefer the form factor to my A7IV.
I'd get a used Rii before I bought this deal.... (edited)

I think Sony started to really hit their stride with the A7 III, and it's when they started to dominate in the Autofocus dept. This is a decent price, but it's probably worth saving a little extra for a 2nd hand A7 III and a capable lens. I don't think I've ever heard anyone have a good word to say about this kit lens.

I've had an alright experience with that lens, but only on my a6300. With the crop factor it only uses the centre part of the lens which definitely helps. I picked mine up used for very little as a lightweight normal zoom/camera kit that I didn't want to worry about getting damaged. It's significantly better than the 16-50 powerzoom that comes with the crop sensor cameras.

I got this as my first try of mirrorless. OK as a point and shoot I guess but I tried recently to take a pic of some flowers like I used to do with my DSLRs... setting up tripod, compositions etc and Oh boy ....battery drain. I don't think I can even contemplate setting up studion flash to add into the mix. DSLR are just so great at continually checking the camera POV over and over without needing to turn the camera or screen on and off all the time. Unless I'm missing something?

It shouldn't drain that quickly. The battery is not like a DSLR agree but it is fine. Plus you usually set up and then move things around but I do agree to get some spare batteries. That way you will be fine

Too expensive for what it is. I've paid £750 a year ago for a brand new Nikon Z6 at Argos and that camera is miles better than this.

    Lens is meh at best.

I would go down the used A7III route is you want Sony. Or a Nikon Z5/Z6.

How much for a lense for closer up

I have a canon eos M6 mark 2 thinking of buying a zoomer lense for baby when at further distances lense looks to be £300 second hand

Is the autofocus any better on the A7 II, vs A7? (edited)
