The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII High Performance Compact Camera has a broad zoom range with edge-to-edge sharpness throughout - ideal for travel.

Don't miss a moment

The RX100M7 can autofocus in just 0.02 secs, so you won't miss that vital moment of action.

With an impressive 357 AF points – the equivalent of 68% of the image sensor – you can accurately target your subject and precisely adjust the focus with just a few taps. It even works for small, fast moving subjects, so you can capture the hustle and bustle of the city.

Moving subjects are notoriously tricky to photograph. With single burst shooting you can shoot up to 90 frames per second (fps) and pick the best of the bunch.

Slow motion 4K video

Vlog your trip in stunning 4K HDR. What's more, this camera can record super slow motion at up to 40 x slower speeds - perfect for dramatic trick shots. Fast Hybrid AF keeps them in focus, even when you're moving.

I had a RX100 mk4 great camera. When I purchased my iPhone 13 I did a series of back to back shots of the same subjects to compare the two cameras.

    I sold the Sony.

I'm curious... May I ask how you viewed the compared photographs? On an laptop, small/large TV, printed?

Not looking to start an argument. iPhones are great, but anything more than 1.5-2x zoom and you can tell the loss of detail compared with the equivalent year Sony RX100 in my opinion. (though not always evident when looking on 5-10" screens.

The lens is not bright enough and prone to dust. Good only when you have a lot of light available.
Consider Sony rx100 VA or ZV-1.

I own a Mk 3 and Mk 7. The latter takes some brilliant images, but the focus frustrates me at times, unlike the Mk3. Weirdly, the focus was supposedly one of the plus points for upgrading. Only an issue on distant and moving subjects (like planes). Having said that, DSLR quality from the pocket camera is staggering. As for comparing with an iPhone 13. I have this phone and the Mk 7 takes infinitely more detailed images.

Quite an expensive camera to justify the price TBH.

Here is its three year old review:

It HAS to be an expensive camera to justify that price.

I paid £224 for a older version and it has served me well over the years.

Note sure I can justify an upgrade at nearly 5x the price.
