Fantastic amp, got one myself. Very well rounded as well for music, films and games. Make sure you update the software because I found some bugs when I first bought it. The latest software got rid of all of them

Thanks; in need of a onkyo sr508 replacement
    - IF this model's zone 3 output (I've just looked at the back of unit pic) will send out out a atmos height signal for secondary amp this'll be an upgrade in everyway (betting it won't, but maybe the next round of models might).

If it's beyond anyone elses' £means too, Right now cheapest 7.2 is £429 before any £10 off first order discounts, and is sony: petertyson.co.uk/son…ack

    If helps,
Onkyo 508 didn't go out with a bang and smoke like 577 did after 9yrs, but flashes a red light instead of powering up. In use since new, so lasted 10+yrs.
Pioneer av amps here are good as day they were bought (vsx c-100 is since 2002. All yamaha gear too)
Imagining Sony are better than onkyo.

factor in extra cooling for av amps ftw. whatever my next one is, there will be a big slow silent fan at the back running off it's usb port. Would bet it extends amp life by 10%/1yr. (edited)

I'm still running a Sony 1040! Purchased as a stop gap, liked it so much I never upgraded. Usually don't touch anything under £800

Limiting the 360 technology to one 7.2 receiver while having the full lineup in the US is a dick move.

We always get dick-moved when it comes to electronics, as well as their pricing

I have an older version of this, which I love (and was less than half price when purchased). However, it does have an occasional issue of Atmos over e-arc.

Atmos from my external device, such as UHD player and media streamer, works flawlessly. But from TV streaming services it occasionally doesn't work and when it happens, you have to power reset. I thought it might have been my TV, but I recently replaced my LG B8 with a G3 and issue still pops up occasionally. I just end up changing the audio track.

Any one had a similar issue with this or other in the line?

This is a good price for this receiver which comes well reviewed.

I'm holding out for a deal for the Denon 3800h or similar which I perceive to be one grade up in terms of features etc but at a higher price.

The problem is that there is nothing approaching the Nov / Black Friday deal £699 ( hotukdeals.com/dea…389 ) and I feel funny spending so much more. (Yes, I know - time machine etc).

    Decisions, decisions.....

I have this. It's excellent. When paired with my Sony TV as a central speaker (you can use the screen for highs and centre for lows, it's sounds superb) the highs don't always come through. Switching off and back on resolves this. It also randomly turns itself on. The other issue is the remote is very poor quality, I rarely use it as I can control it using my Sony TV remote. Barring these issues, it's such a good app, very satisfied with it. Highly recommended.

I'm thinking of buying this amp for that very reason, using my Sony TV to help lift the centre channel. So there's an issue with it not working all the time?
