Never played ESO in my life. Would this be a good place to start?

It would, you get everything bar the upcoming gold road expansion, and there's enough content there to keep you going for a LONG time. The standard edition will still run you 100+ hours and is like 4 quid. There are better MMO choices though, I'm historically not a massive MMO fan but have tried them all, I'd say this is one of the better ones but it depends what you like.

My recommendation if never played though is FFXIV if you've never taken the free trial as well you've got a good 200 hours there gratis.

A lot of game for your money and no subscription fees required, absolute bargain!

Superb price. Could never really get in to ESO, always found myself bored after a few hours

Same with me I played it a bit but was never as engaging as skyrim I found and could also never find groups for the dungeons than gave up. Prob spend like 15 hours in the game before I gave up. Always somewhere tempted to go back but I feel the setup doesn't really lean to epic stories, but that is just my opinion

Tempting but I am not starting all over again.

Isn't this for the ESO launcher and not Steam?

ESO is interesting because you either love it or hate it. I have almost 6000 hours in the game.
Because it's an MMO, it definitely benefits from playing with other players and you might really need to invest some time into it.

I wouldn't recommend treating it like Skyrim, although all story content can be done solo if you only want to quest.

Important to note that there is free to play event until 9th of April so you can test it out before buying.

Do they still force ppl to paid subscriptions for example by severely limiting inventory space for free users?
