About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Every year, villages and towns along the Rhine Valley are illuminated by a series of spectacular ‘Rhine in Flames’ festivals. Throughout the summer, the Rhine lights up as Europe’s biggest parade of illuminated ships sail along its waters. The river valley basks in the glow of thousands of red Bengal lights and a kaleidoscope of colours fill the night’s sky as the spectacular hilltop firework displays welcome the flotilla. Join us as we enjoy the Rhine in Flames Festival. Enjoy the spectacle in Koblenz or Oberwesel, each giving you the opportunity to also visit the charming town of Cochem, in the magnificent Moselle Valley.

Accommodation: You will stay for three nights in a minimum 3-star hotel with breakfast each morning.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Local departure by coach, then to the hotel for a three-night stay.

Day 2: Rhine Valley; Rhine in Flames - After a leisurely morning, our included excursion allows you to marvel at the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Valley including medieval castles, picturesque villages and vine-clad slopes. We travel to the ever popular ‘wine town’ of Rüdesheim, home to the vibrant ‘Drosselgasse’, a narrow alley lined with restaurants, shops and bars, many playing traditional Rhineland music and the perfect place to enjoy a glass of local wine or beer.

Later, we visit Boppard, with its splendid Rhine Promenade, and travel on to Oberwesel in time for the Rhine in Flames fireworks. You can also enjoy the atmosphere of the annual Oberwesel Wine Market which takes place in the market square, and enjoy local music and bands.

Tonight, we enjoy the highlight of our tour – the Rhine in Flames spectacle in Oberwesel. The ‘Night of a Thousand Fires’ is a huge firework display, as around 50 boats cruise this magnificent stretch of the Rhine Gorge, starting and finishing in Oberwesel.

Day 3: Moselle Valley - Enjoy our included afternoon excursion to the charming wine town of Cochem, in the Moselle Valley.

The small town of Cochem is dominated by the majestic Reichburg Castle, perched high upon a rock. However, the town itself is just as impressive.

With its pastel-coloured buildings lining the waterfront and luscious green surroundings, you’ll fall in love with the charm of Cochem.

Day 4- Return home.

I've done it in 2016. From Calais it's roughly 8 hours and that's with rest stops along the way. To be honest it sounds worse than it is.

When many years ago and it was a brilliant spectacular. Bear in mind there is a lot of standing.

That's the nature of the majority of festival's out there (anywhere around the world, etc), if we're being honest.

Not that that's ideal for the majority of people worldwide mind?

    But still ...
