The Transformers: The Movie The year is 2005 … For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Megatron (Frank Welker) and his Decepticons over control of their home planet of Cybertron. However, an even greater threat – Unicron (Orson Welles, Citizen Kane), a colossal converting planet that devours everything in its path – is heading right for Cybertron. The only hope is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Will the Autobots be able to save themselves and their home world in time? An all-star cast, including Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club), Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek), Eric Idle (the Monty Python films) and Robert Stack (The Untouchables), brings this inimitable, explosively entertaining Autobot adventure to life.

Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is the awe inspiring, powerful and compassionate leader of the Autobot forces. Originally a working-class civilian, he was chosen by the Matrix to command the Autobots, which was merely the first of a number of burdens he would be forced to bear — another being his unintentional relocation of the Transformers' age-old conflict to Earth.

Bumblebee
Bumblebee is one of the smallest and physically weakest Autobots. While his stature allows him to do his job better than most Autobots could manage, he is self-conscious about his size. Maybe this is why he makes fast friends among the humans. He looks up (so to speak) to the other Autobots, especially Optimus Prime, but what he doesn't realize is that they look up to him. He may be small, but he's brave, and he's one of the most well-liked Autobots around.

Grimlock
Some Autobots wonder why Grimlock is even on their side. Dim-witted and sluggish, his disposition is much more suited to the Decepticons. After all, he values power and strength over wisdom and compassion, and furthermore, he doesn't really get along with most Autobots. But the Autobots don't realize is that the only thing he hates more than weakness is those who misuse their strength, meaning when push comes to shove, Grimlock will always fall in on the right side of the fence. And despite their disagreements, Grimlock holds a respect for Prime's strength and leadership.

The Decepticons 4316592_1.jpg
Megatron
Megatron is the founder of the Decepticon uprising, and their most well-known and feared leader. As a young, charismatic leader forged in battle and the heritage of war, he began to believe in a grand purpose that his race the Transformers, glorious destiny is to rule an empire which will span the universe. He feels great contempt towards his mortal enemy Optimus Prime and other Transfomers who, he feels, betray their proud heritage by demanding peace and cooperation with weaker life forms.

Starscream
A former scientist, who serves under Megatron as Decepticon Air Commander during the Cybertronian Civil Wars and is second in the Decepticon chain of command.

4316592_1.jpg
Sound Wave
Soundwave is one of Megatron's most reliable troops, and he has positioned himself comfortably and irreplaceably in Megatron's upper command structure. He stands at the Decepticon leader's side as a confidant. Soundwave guards his place in the hierarchy fiercely. Other Decepticons (except Megatron) see him as a two-faced snake, since, as Communications Officer, Soundwave hears all and doesn't hesitate to use blackmail to keep himself high in Megatron's esteem. The other Decepticons wouldn't mind abandoning him on the battlefield—if they thought Megatron would let them get away with it.

    Absolute classic.

One of my favourite movies or all time. I used to be able to recite the entire movie off by heart.

The full movie is available to watch on YouTube for those of you who don't want to purchase it this time.
