This was so good they didn't even need to make the First and Second man.

Seriously though, excellent film. Orson Welles was a genius.

He so was, he's only in the film for 12 minutes & he eats every moment he's on screen

Simply one of my very favourite films. Obviously Orson Welles is brilliant but so is Trevor Howard and in particular Allida Valli, who absolutely sparkles.
The photography is in places wonderful especially in the sewer scenes.
I get that to a modern eye it's slow in it's pace and I don't really rate Joseph Cotton in it.
However it is a constant in my ever moving film top ten.

It's unique to the films score
I don't think you'll find another English language film with a zither score

I would regard myself as something of a cineaste but never could grasp the appeal of this film.

It's alright as a noir pot-boiler I suppose but always felt a little too self-aware for me. Give me a Double Indemnity or Night of The Hunter over this any day.

Voted hot though. Still a good price if you're a fan.

We need a 4k blu ray on this film. One of the greatest and most important films ever made.
I am surprised that the 4k bluray isn't out already
