Perfect for my C Class (2011). The car has Bluetooth but for phone calls only not for streaming from phone this solved that issue. Bought for £6.78 as new user. (edited)

Is there echo on the caller's side of their own voice?

Depends on your phone. I'm fairly sure this isn't a full Bluetooth set with a mic, it's just Bluetooth output to the stereo. So your caller's voice would come through your stereo but your voice would go into your phone's mic.
