Pretty bad this time as most can be found at lower prices elsewhere

Agreed, just had a quick look on previous deals on here and online retailers, on average they're already £50 ish cheaper if not more and on top of that you've then got the hassle of a voucher you need to spend presumably by a certain time.

And whatever you buy with that voucher, chances are it'll be cheaper with other retailers so again your savings/discount are reduced. Overall this isn't a great deal.

Apple Store has often said to me, ‘if you know someone in education… get them to buy for you…’.

For a device, this is probably fine, but suspect the Gift Card is more tricky, and the Apple Care+ Warranty would become very difficult/awkward to claim on… unless perhaps device recipient/purchaser, has the SAME surname as student card holder.

Any thoughts, experience on this ??

Not direct experience, but the only time I've had issues with apple care was a 2nd hand phone I bought which already had it.

To get a same day repair, they said I needed to prove I had the original apple care email (which I didnt). They still honoured but the phone had to be sent off, rather than same day repair.

On a new phone, I had the same issue (they said will be sent away), I asked why; they asked if I had the original purchase proof, and they changed their stance and fixed it the same day.

Not sure how closely they checked the details of the email (i.e. did they check it was linked to my name).

Why can you not pay with Paypal?
It is for students, and you need to pay in one go....

Do you need to provide a student ID for this? Or do they take your word for it?

Lol. You probably need a valid student email

That does make the M2 Mac Mini very good value (assuming you want/need something else from Apple or can sell the gift card).

You can use the gift card on something down the line or even on the App Store or for Apple Music/tv

Probably only worth it for the brand new launched products and the base M2 mini as better off getting M1 range at massive discounts or some of the older M2 models are cheaper by the difference elsewhere.

    Where is the m2 cheaper?

If it's an Education purchase there's a good chance they'll give it to you within a week or so of purchase. They have done this for me in the past.

I don't think it's fair play to return a perfectly good computer in order to access an offer that didn't exist when you knowingly purchased the computer. Fortunately Apple I think tends to agree and will probably give you what you want. (edited)

You can buy if you are parents of a student. From memory when we did it a few years ago we had to give details of the course he was on. This was back in the day that AppleCare was free with it.

Apple Education Pricing is available to current and newly accepted university students and their parents, as well as teachers and staff at all levels. Quantity limits apply.

Parent purchases are valid for tertiary education only and where you are purchasing on behalf of your student offspring:

Apple Store said can’t officially buy for an un-educated friend, but you can un-officially do this in store, just don’t make it clear what one is intending.
