According to the TV consumer program FOOD UNWRAPPED, Peanut Butter does not need a best-before date as (at least if not opened) it should not "go off". The same applies to Honey.

That's exactly what 'Best before' means, it will not go off, but the texture or taste may not be as good if left longer than the BB date.
Many things with a BB date may taste just as good for years after that date, some actually improve after the BB date (Christmas puds, some currys pastes are examples).

It's 'use by' dates that things like that do not need. (edited)

I buy Meridian peanut butter, made from nothing but skin on peanuts. Can’t remember if i get it in B&M, Home Bargains or Sainsbury’s :/

I find it a bit ironic that "Whole Earth" has to have palm fat in it even if it under 3%.

IMO the best peanut butter I've found is the Aldi one: 100% nuts no salt and you don't taste the absence of salt as I would have expected. Not hi-oleic but I far prefer it (but then I'm not a big peanut butter eater). Oh, and being 100% peanuts it may require some stirring - those who don't like that can always buy American-style "peanut" butter which may be as low as 60% to 70% (the worst example of American food business I ever noticed was General Mills' Old El Paso brand guacamole - a guacamole saying it contains 14% avocados makes me wonder (in bad way)).

If you're a fan of peanut butter then your main two brands would be Jif or Skippy I've tried KP too and that's not bad though

And what if you absolutely cannot stand American-style process peanut butter with hard fats and sugars?

Jif Crunchy: "Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Molasses, Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed, Soybean), Stabiliser: Mono and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Salt"

Skippy Super Chunk: "Roasted peanuts, sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oil (cottonseed, soybean and rapeseed oil) to prevent separation, salt."

A big thumbs down from me to both, I'm afraid.

Has anyone tried using their own nuts in a Blender?

Definitely considered it, but I should probably have some kids first.

Decent price but I've always found Whole Earth too salty for my liking (not good for what is supposed to be a 'healthy' peanut butter).
Then there's the palm oil. At the normal price you'd expect peanut oil, have that or no added oil at all.

Definitely the worst PB I've ever tasted. Wouldn't buy it at any price. Good deal for fans though.

    With or without palm oil?

I have a jar of peanut butter that has been in the cupboard for over a year. I thought it would still be okay if it has not been opened? What do you guys think? Mind you whatever you think I would still try it when I do eventually open it which may not be this year..........

Maybe open it sooner rather than later?

Thing is you see these offers and they look so good you want to buy them but then you have to say but how many can I keep unopened in the cupboard looking good?
