Does supermarkets still offer Cashback (Cash) in store in 2024? Do we need to insert our debit card only OR can we get cash via credit card too?

Please do let me know which supermarkets offer this service nowadays

You only get offered it with debit cards, or you would be severely stung on a credit card as it would be a cash advance.
You could not guarantee getting it anyway as it tended to be offered as the till exceeded the store limit for what should be in there before needing to transfer it to the vault.
The store gets charged for banking cash, so they try to get rid of the excess

I don't think you can get cashback on credit cards.

Booths, Aldi and Lidl definitely still offer cashback. Not tried anywhere else recently.

I recall I used to get asked everytime I shopped in Tesco - they don't ask any more.
I have recieved cash back on my Credit Card before - I make a point of not using my debit card.

It is because you choose to pay by card that there is less cash in the till to get rid of to avoid banking charges, and time wasted in double counting it before taking it to the safe
