A slightly belated HNY weather gang currently 0 degrees here but it feels like -5, apparently. I’m intrigued to know how actual temp vs feels like temp is worked out.

"We calculate a ‘feels like’ temperature by taking into account the expected air temperature, relative humidity and the strength of the wind at around 5 feet off the ground (the typical height of a human face!), combined with our understanding of how heat is lost from the human body during cold and windy days.

On windy days the speed of moisture evaporation from your skin increases and serves to move heat away from your body, making it feel colder than it actually is. The exception to this rule, however, is when temperatures climb higher. On warm days, wind chill becomes less significant. Instead, humidity plays a greater role.

When a human perspires, the water in their sweat evaporates. This results in the cooling of the body as heat is carried away from it. When humidity is high, the rate of evaporation and cooling is reduced, resulting in it feeling hotter than it actually is.

Using these facts we use a formula to adjust the air temperature based on our understanding of wind chill at lower temperatures, heat index at higher temperatures and a combination of the two in between."

I can indeed Gather you've been to Worcester then? The plantagenet symbol was three lions, which is what he has his feet on. Still see this being used to this day, as many a sports fan knows. Another of their symbols was a sprig of broom. In Latin this translates as planta genista, which became the term Plantagenet. Also John stated in his will that be wished to be buried between the shrines of st wulfstan and st oswald , the patron saints of Worcester, hence the dudes on either side.

Wow! I hate that there are no plants because I like plants, but that's much neater. I would put a membrane down, level it with sand and put the slabs on top of that. You do need the slabs to be level though, or they will crack. Round the edges I'd put a membrane down then gravel. If you go to a builders merchant can get a tonne of 20mm pea travel for about half the cost of the fancy stuff from the garden centre and it will look just fine. Then I'd get a nice little table, a couple of chairs and a bottle of gin, and sit back and enjoy your efforts.
