The Walking Dead: Dead City: When Is It Dropping, Where To Watch It And What Do We Know So Far?

If you have been a fan of The Walking Dead from the beginning, you will be elated to know that the family is expanding and three new spin-offs are coming your way:

- The Walking Dead: Dead City - following Maggie and Negan

- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - set up in France and focused on the character of Daryl

- An Untitled (as for now) Project that is an extension of Michonne and Rick’s storyline (Nobody knows much about this one except that is it in the works).

The one that it is about to come out and that I am so going to binge, it is The Walking Dead: Dead City - so first things first: What is this show about?

The story follows Maggie and Negan traveling into a post-apocalyptic New York City looking for Maggie's son Hershel who has been kidnapped. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.

Frome the original show, new images and small leaks, we know that the relationship between the two characters is still very tense and as we know Negan doesn't do very well alone - so it seems like we might get a glimpse of the old him during this spin off (which will be interesting to watch, especially after being on a journey to better himself for so long)

At the end of the day, pairing Maggie and Negan and making them travelling together is a very interesting twist as we all know..

...Negan brutally killed Maggie's husband in Season 7 of the main show and she obviously pretty much still hates him. I am super intrigued to see the evolution of this relationship and how these two characters will be able to coexist with each other as they have a common purpose.

This is the official description from AMC themselves for the plot which gives us a small hint at what can be expected:
“Years have passed since we last saw Maggie and Negan and they must now form a tenuous alliance in order to accomplish a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan journey to the island of Manhattan, which, having been isolated since the beginning of the walker apocalypse, has developed its own unique threats.”

“While in the city, Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers, evade a marshal with a troubled past, and hunt down a notorious killer. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present.”

As for the rest, they managed to keep most of the storyline well concealed as this is all we pretty much know about what is going to happen at this point.

When and Where Is It Dropping?
The Walking Dead: Dead City is dropping on June 18th 2023 on AMC in the US. Regarding the UK, we don't have much info yet but TWD Universe it is a Disney Plus treasure, so it could be possible that even this spin off will be available on the platform (I will update when I have more info).

In case you struggle to find a platform straight in the UK, there is the chance to watch the show straight on AMC using a Canadian VPN (and apparently you can get 7 days of Free Trial as well)

The tense relationship between Maggie and Negan was what kept me watching in the later seasons. Really looking forward to more of their storyline.

I really enjoyed the first few series of TWD but was pleased when it ended but this new spin off could be interesting.

As if one spin off wasn't enough, now there's a film coming - The Ones Who Live
