Is "Craft Beer" a term to appeal to the traditional Lager drinkers? Dunno. Choose wisely people. [Image]

I think it's a case of real ale usually being a fairly flat beer, served at cellar temperatures. For me, the term 'craft beers' has evolved to describe beers that have come onto the market that sit between lager and real ale - beer that is meant to be served cold, generally fizzy, but with a range of flavours as you'd find with real ale. Being served cold though means they need to have different flavours from real ale, so they're often highly hopped, fruity / citrusy etc. After all, the colder a beer is, the less you can taste. That's why if I fancy a lager on a blazing hot day I'll stick it in the freezer to super-chill for a bit, as even slightly above fridge temperature lager tastes pretty rank to me!

I think there are 6 in the range. Orange one similar to brew dog Elvis juice. All are very good for £1.

I used to drink it in Wetherspoon's sometimes.

Pretty clean tasting. Perfectly quaffable but not a particularly distinctive flavour.

This stuff (bright colours, 330ml cans, expensive) is aimed at hipsters though so it's probably cheap to them.

That's why I didn't buy I'm quite happy with their 500ml bottled Hatherwood ales at £1.19 or so. It's all brewed by Shepherd & Neame

Tis a Shepherd Neame operation. Have very low expectations if you're expecting 'craft' beer.

Green Gecko is great value, I used to buy cases of the stuff and overdid it a bit, so not had any for a while. It's no Brewdog Punk IPA, but it's a damn good drink for the price in my humble opinion.

Not that really impressed with these, the orange one nothing like or even resembles brewdog tangerine, if anything it reminded me of Shaw's bitter shandy when I first tasted it however It was ok but wouldn't go back to buy any more, the American one is better has the bitter and citrus taste, the iron one again has a stronger bitter hop and is ok . Out of the three the American one is better. I felt all three had a thin cheap taste unlike all the brewdogs, goose ipa and my Aldi favourite Marston's old empire ipa. (edited)

Don’t get people excited. It’s nothing like elvis juice. I’ve tried all of these and they are drinkable but nowhere near as good as branded ones. Someone else has said they are brewed by Shepherds Neame. I know some but maybe not alll are. They are nowhere near as good asShepherds Neame branded ones such as bishops finger but they are less expensive.

Shepherd Neame are Britains oldest brewer and produce some great beers. I believe the name "craft beer" was conceived as a marketing ploy in the last 5 - 10 years for overhopped fizz and anyone paying £1.50 or more for a small can or bottle so should have their judgement questioned

Thanks for that, I was hoping these could save me some £s by replacing some of the Brewdogs and other craft beers I like. I'll give the American one a shot though.
