I need to extend the usb cable for YI outdoor camera. Need around 8-10m extra. Any recommendation based on experience? Without any quality or functionality loss
Thanks

UGREEN USB Extension Cable, 10m USB 2.0 Active Repeater, USB Male to Female Lead With Signal Amplification Active Cord for Printers,Keyboards, Game Console, Wifi Antenna, loudspeakers, scanners, displays, headsets etc. amazon.co.uk/dp/…TPK
All I know is, it works with no problem at all, and has done for over 6 monhts
Get the one I said about. It's a good quality, well sealed etc and has never let me down. Just remember...sometimes cheap is not always good. I used a £3.99 jobby from eBay originally and it failed in around 4 weeks.
Cheers, I might give it a go and failing that will try and get a replacement. Cheers.
Thanks. Why are you recommending this one? I heared ugreen cables before, but what is it like compare to £5 10m on ebay?
This ugreen 10m is for £12.99
Not exactly recommending, but read all the questions and reviews (edited)
It is a wifi one
The fact that the Ugreen extension cable functions as required is good, but such a cable with an active data repeater will actually marginally degrade the 5V power capability. Maybe the Yi cam is flexible enough to tolerate a marginal power supply.
I still don’t know which one to go for...I think a £5 one will do the job too
Is that for your outdoor one? Thanks
Yes.
Hi, I have this camera and it is a total ball ache. The short power cable is a joke, I have other indoor cams and they are great. With the outdoor one, I have set it up using three different extension cables and all don't allow the camera to function properly. I have used the plug it came with plus a more powerful plug. I have bought a 3 quid cable, an 8 quid cable and a 15 quid cable.
The issue I get are, it works for a time, ranging between a minute and an hour then it disconnects. You cant use the audio or mic as that must send a surge and causes it to disconnect, it then tries to reset but just stays in a state of disconnect. The audio also sounds like there is crickets, as weird as that sounds.
Maybe I have a faulty unit, I am tempted to try the cable you have recommended as one last try!
Probably a faulty unit but the cable I have is still working spot on.
