Ok so I've been looking for a Pet GPS tracker for my cat....have been searching for various different things. This came up a few times and the RRP is £44.99. So at £9.99 that seems more reasonable value.

It is not actually live GPS....relies more on bluetooth proximity and then transmits the last location through GPS so you can locate the item.

I don't think it will be suitable for tracking something that can move itself once the last location has been transmitted....ie a cat or dog!

I think it's more similar to the TILE system so probably more suited to tracking your keys than an animal. Lots of websites are selling this as a pet GPS tracker....which is I think a bit naughty and misleading. Hence why I'm trying to be clear that it does not appear to have live GPS capability.

However at a price of £9.99 that is cheap for this sort of thing. P&P is £2.95 for orders under £50 and free above that.

Product blurb/spec from the website.

Never be at a loss again. Be it your bike, handbag, house keys or your prized pooch, our portable GPS device can be used to track anything – so long as it is within Bluetooth range of your phone. Once the device moves out of this range, you will receive a signal notifying its last position but will no longer be able to track the device’s whereabouts.

Simply attach the device, download the iTrack app and you’re set for security. You might be lost for words, but with our Pinpoint Bluetooth tracking device, you won’t be lost for belongings.

If you lose your bike while in bluetooth range of it, there's something seriously wrong with you.

Got excited when I saw this as I'd like to see where my cat goes when he disappears but it looks like the only way it will work is if I strap my phone onto it as well.

I managed to buy a cheap kids tracker watch off amazon for about £20, takes a simcard and has GPS. Needs to be "programmed" to not use GPS all the time and only ping its location back infrequently, lasts 3/4 days or so...

Could I have a link please kind sir?

I think that it works like the 'tile mate' system which uses a community find so if it in range of another user of the itrack app then it will also flag up on your app with its location. Or at least that is my understanding of how they work.

People utilise the 'tile mate' system....those cost £19.99 and have a range of 61m off the bluetooth of your phone. So this is 50m range for £9.99.

I guess it depends how many other people are using the app in your area....as with the other systems that depend on bluetooth. Tried to be clear in the post that it is not dedicated GPS those things cost a lot more. (edited)

As the op said as a pet tracker it's useless but will give you last reported location of an item once you are out of bluetooth range so you could certainly use for a 'where did I last leave a thing?' type approach for inanimate objects like a bag etc. it was in. Also alarms for going out of BT range so will let you know if you are leaving something behind you. I can see how it could be used but certainly not how they are advertising it. (edited)

Just to be precise: IT IS NOT LIKE TILE
Not even close. Whole selling point of Tile is the searched item need to be within of Bluetooth range of ANY TILE USER. Not just owner. And there are millions of Tile users across the World.
