sorted byWrong. My flat cannot even be considered big but I have a 70 inch Samsung on the wall and it fits in perfectly in the living room.
Seriously, after a while, it just feels like the 55 in it replaced!
I think also the living room layout makes a huge difference, I have two big blank walls it could have gone on but my friend with a larger living room only has one wall that can take a maximum of 40 inch due to the room design.
Get it delivered, that's the trick. Got mine delivered right into my living room. Got a friend to help with setup only because I was wall-mounting it. I could easily have set it up alone if I was putting it on a stand due to the ingenious way Samsung packaged it to make it easy to remove and attach the stands. (edited)
Yeah you took it too seriously because he meant the brand Sharp is run of the mill 40 years ago, nothing to do with the size... (edited)
Do you feel silly now?
Where you see samsung for £520 please, sounds reasonable price.
Everything is getting bigger

I hope picture quality is Sharp (edited)
Not sure what you're referring to but if it's a 70" TV, there's a few issues I can raise with that statement :
1. In 1981 there were no widescreen televisions
2. There were no TVs anywhere near this size, average size for a CRT TV was 25" or so afaik
3. There were no LCD TVs
4. The Internet was essentially for scientists in 1981 and there were no smart TVs
Interesting or boring 1981 trivia >
"In 1981 NSF supported the development of the Computer Science Network (CSNET). CSNET connected with ARPANET using TCP/IP, and ran TCP/IP over X.25, but it also supported departments without sophisticated network connections, using automated dial-up mail exchange"
So if you could connect a TV to the Internet (Arpanet) back then it would be via dial-up and you'd need to plugin a home computer of the day.
I realise I have taken your comment way too seriously but that's a slice of 1981 tech TV history in relation to what you stated. (edited)
You would be surprised, I replaced my previous 65" with a Samsung 75". After a few days, the 75" doesn't look any different to the 65" screen. One other thing, my screen is wall hung. It maybe an optical illusion but in my opinion, wall hung screens look less imposing than screens on a stand.
I've had two 40 odd and 60" both very good TVs.
Knock a hole through the wall, so both can enjoy as ...
Actually we are replacing the windows with this..
I don't think you can get Samsung 75 inch for £520. It was £511 in fact, but good luck finding one at that price now. Never mind that was heavily reduced and worked only via discount sites. (edited)
Many brands are now badge engineered Vestel TV's made in Turkey.
Since about 2015 some Panasonic, some Toshiba, Some if not all JVC (brand is owned by Dixons) and many of the low end (Polaroid (brand now owned by Asda AKA Walmart),Teknika (brand of Tesco), Bush, Alba (brand owned by Argos) etc) and others, are simply Firmware engineered versions of the same TV.
The Panel may be slightly different (faster response etc) and there may be different ports and features, but they are all very similar.
The do sufferer with Power supply, firmware corruption and screen issues over time, as they are made to a price, like most consumer electronics these days, so that they are not as reliable as higher priced products as the components and circuits are not as well designed.
I know this because I repair these TV's and know by experience.
Have a look at the label on the rear, some actually say made by Vestel, others will say Dixons (aka Currys) where they commission Vestel to manufacture a TV to set selling price, with a unique model number that only Currys sell, therefore stopping you doing a price match with other retailers, as the model number will be slightly different, bur essentially the same TV.
If you watch a movie called Idiocracy you'll see how big they get and the result.
Sorry , my post was really replying to MSO's comment asking if Sharp TV's were any good.
It's OK I am a git so my response was to be expected
I have an old Sharp it's now it the bedroom, rarely used for the last 7 years, 13 years old in total. Lackluster but immortal. But that was the Aquos series.
Sharp sold their brand to various manufacturers for a while... so is really an original japanese Sharp?
The models in question should be here: sharpconsumer.uk/ele…hd/
But 70'' don't exist yet. Anyone can trace this model and find some product link or manual for it? (edited)
Watch me fit it in my 2 bedroom ill saw bits off
Big enough 😁
That man is too small for the chair.
Even 50 inch Is big to me
It’s not about the size of the house, it’s the size of the wall they go on.
I have an 83 inch but the wall iits on is 20+ foot long so looks fine.
Oddly the higher the resolution of the set, the closer you should sit (within reason). We sit 12 foot from ours and it’s amazing
Agreed. For people watching purely 4K, this set will be ok. (Maybe no HDR worth talking about though) but standard def tv will be terrible and almost unwatchable.
Wrong.
Houses getting smaller and their prices getting bigger.
