Always like to have a look what's coming up from Lidl to add to my tool collection and saw that they're going to be selling measuring tools including a quick square. I know this can be an invaluable tool for many jobs and this seems a decent price to me. Admittedly it doesn't state the size whether it's a 6, 7 or 12 inch square but probably worth a look if you're in Lidl anyway.

    I bought the Lidl speed square this afternoon, and already own the Screwfix version. They are both the same size, but the Screwfix one (which weighs 174g) is substantially more robust than the Lidl one (114g). If you need to use the angles, the Screwfix one is difficult to read, but the Lidl one is very clear. Another point in favour of the Lidl one is that it has a metric ruler on it (absent from the Screwfix variant). I expect to use the Lidl one for most things in the future, but will hang onto the Screwfix one for doing cross cuts with a circular saw.

    3M tape is great quality and usually a lot more expensive so hopefully this duct tape will live up to the rep.

    These are handy. Worth searching "speed square" on YouTube on how to get the most from this tool. Invaluable if you do any roof joinery.

    I do like the look of this but to be honest I think all speed squares should have the little notches at the different measurements that keep your pencil in place as you run it down a straight edge.

    I agree, but you could make your own, just drill some holes! I assume this is Aluminium, that would be easy!

    Check the original Swanson speed square, I wouldn't be without mine.
