Terrible company to deal with if anything goes wrong with the booking made.
booked a room for my mother the property stunk of weed, no key to lock the bedroom door when leaving, she didn’t stay a single night £400 pound she lost. Booking.com didn’t help.

Once this happens they are quick to take the listing off and no customer service after that so agree with you. Luckily i had managed go get pictures of the listing from booking.com and pictures of the actual place and my credit card company was able to refund.

    ***WARNING***

I am booking some travel for work, and I thought it would be great to get some cash back, but when I compare using the Metro link to simply going to the site, I notice that I'm actually paying more! If you book directly, you can get the "genius discount". If not, you get it in a few months via Metro, it seems. Great if you want to scam expenses, but pretty stupid otherwise.

True. But if it is your work paying, it is your work paying for a £100 amazon voucher for you in the future. Depends how much you like your employer.

One thing I just want to highlight on this... I'm seeing that if you attempt to make a purchase via TCB, Airtime rewards, now via Metro discounts, other affiliate programmes, the price seems to be more expensive than when you go direct to booking.com website.

As an example, I saw that a hotel in Amsterdam was available for £279 for 3 nights when going direct to the website. When I go through the affiliate services, it's £303. So yes, if you get the £45 voucher back you do get a bit more back I suppose, but perhaps not always worth being drawn in by these deals. Not always guaranteed, you're getting a voucher rather than an instant discount and you have to wait months.

Perhaps this isn't the case on all hotels and granted I've only checked on one tbf! Still, no disrespect meant to OP, as all in all this might work for some people. (edited)

I often see that, and have tried to work out what's going on.

First of all, check you're actually logged into your Booking .com account when you click though, otherwise you won't see any "Genius" discounts you might be entitled to.
When you click through an affiliate link or cashback site, I suspect they hide or disable some special rates, or they reduce the "Genius" discount or other discounts you could get. The standard hotel rates don't change, else that would be a dodgy practice.
Also, you can see different rates if searching via the app or website, or depending on the device you use. I often see lower "Mobile only price" if I use Chrome app on my mobile, compared to Chrome on my PC.

It's so annoying when you book and then see a cheaper rate or better cashback deal. This is why I only ever book a fully flexible rate so I can easily cancel and rebook. (edited)

Note this T&C may catch you out:In order to receive the gift card, your basket total must meet the minimum spend before VAT. ( although it may just be on the agent fee for oversaeas bookings?

Its a booking agent - very few of them will help you because you dont like the hotel you booked? They will only really step in if there is something wrong with the booking? (edited)

Good point, my booking does not meet the requirements (£93), should have taken more notice. Needed the Hotel anyway but still poor from my point of view.

Good deal, but you get a higher reward using Vouchercloud instead, £50 voucher instead of £45 on a £200 spend for example. Won't let me share a link on here but worth taking a look for an extra reward

Tried this when booking my holiday in May. Surprisingly received my £55 voucher today!! Just to add I paid in local currency at the hotel and my selection was done before noticing the offer so it was already in my basket. I just clicked the mail online link n went straight to my basket n checked out. Hope this helps 47608502-NUQWG.jpg (edited)

Does anyone know if this would work if I pay for a booking I have already made? I've got a place booked for £370 but there is nothing to pay until August so just wondering if I go through the link and pay now, would I get the voucher :/

Just be mindful if you pay for your booking with a credit card. Mine just went through for a weeks holiday abroad. Their headquarters are in Holland so amount was taken in Euros and my bank charged me a £20 non sterling transaction fee.

That's not the case for me anytime I've booked from booking.com, not sure what you did to be charged a non-sterling transaction fee.

I just purchased a hotel in Singapore, and didn't get that charge.

Does the payment have to be taken by 30th June, or just the booking? E.g. I book a hotel with free cancellation (no charge until arrival) — would that qualify if the stay/charge is after 30th June? (edited)

I think the T&C's are going to catch a lot of people out..... It could be read:
You must prepay your booking in GBP
    You must complete before 30/06
    ?

    Definitely!
I always compare prices on multiple hotel sites, and even by booking direct with the hotel.
Expedia will often have a cheaper price AND higher cashback rates offered (up to 10%) compared with booking.com (usually 3-4%). (edited)

The terms and conditions state 'the transaction must be completed in GBP'. I assume if I am looking at USA hotels with free cancellation (I pay at the hotel) then this wouldnt work.

Going away for a couple of nights and thought I'd make use of this voucher.
    Two nights on booking.com £430.
Two nights direct with hotel £350.
Heat to the OP but worth double checking booking direct.

Agree with other comments about it being a terrible company.
I booked a newly listed property and I was then directed to a website to add my credit card details. I didn't realise this was a Transfergo site for cash payments via credit cards.
When I told Booking.com they referred me to their terms and conditions which basically exonerated them from any consequences.
They are quick to get their commission when things go fine, but don't want to accept any liability for the properties they advertise, even when these do not exist.
In the end my credit card refunded me, thankfully.

Always go by the reviews. I would never book a newly listed property in 15 years I have used the site.
