sorted byI would suggest looking carefully at the company before considering using them if you really need this...
Hopefully the majority already have a driving licence or passport that would serve the same purpose, but for those that don't have those things just take a minute to check out who you are signing up with and what information they need..

The whole thing sounded a bit 1984ish to me, but it could be legit, although the MSE discussion does suggest it could be a bit of a waste of time getting one as no-one seems to accept them... As I say do your own research but be careful with who you give your personal information freely too... (edited)

Worth noting these cards have a 3 year validity period.

Ahh what it is to be young, and think you know everything!

It might me everything you say but it doesn’t mean any of the banks or hotels I have been to accept it. Actually going showing it and being told they don’t accept it. Banks I have been to are Barclays hsbc. Santander nationwide and others. My library doesn’t EE shop doesn’t premiere inn doesn’t Drayton manor hotel doesn’t. Vodaphone shop doesn’t and several other places doesn’t so I know it’s not widely accepted like the other people who feel cheated. The only accommodation I could get was YHA no other place in London, York or Birmingham would accept it. Please stop using the standard line. Before buying look up and see who accepts it most places I was asked what’s that as they had never heard of it. Buyer beware plus expect to wait weeks or months to get it don’t bother paying more to get it quicker doesn’t mean a thing. Something will happen also wait days for replies to emails as it’s the only way to contact them. Good place to look is student groups as they get these often to find them useless. Also I have the app but these places don’t trust my word that it’s not a fake app. Widely accepted my eye. Thanks
Sounds great (edited)
1984 seems closer every day.
Anything free is always a red flag to me

They now have a QR code on the back which bar staff / bouncers / retailers can scan to check the info and picture on the card is correct.
Seems the whole thing was a bit of a Public-Private Partnership disaster (with a budget of £109million!)

Nice to see the government is capable of squandering money regardless of who is power!

Same people then were supposed to accept it as they do now....
Literally NO ONE accepted the damn thing, it also snapped in half after being in my wallet for 8 months....
One would hope to assume things should be different this long on
Even saying it out loud sounds somewhat dodgy, I've already got a couple of passports & a drivers license - if you got theses, you really don't need a "citizen card"
Haven't voted either way! (edited)
So you so might as well go to Lego Land and get one of these too...

CaptainCrunch, you said, a tad sarcastically, about doing this rather than get a passport or driving licence. Why would I want a driving licence when I can't drive or a passport if I'm not going anywhere?
Pretty expensive way of trying to prove who I am. Even allowing for the fact that it is incredibly difficult to prove who I am without either of those things, I'm not going to waste money of either item just for that.
If you have no photo evidence of who you are you will find in future you run into problems.
I had not needed to have any support from bank since setting the account up over 30 years ago and now did it required photo ID this meant I had to pay to renew my passport.
Some banks do this when switching to mobile app as well.(this is another thing they are forcing people to use)
Been using mine for years without issue. Doesnt work in basically any night club or some higher tier establishments however.
Useful for those with only a passport and dont wanna risk taking it out all the time like myself (edited)
By standing I mean a doctor, police constable, lawyer, solicitor ect. (edited)
I am going to try & get one saying I am 16.
Cheap fairs etc
