I'm on my second connection cable. My graphics card only has mini displayport or mini HDMI connectors and so I bought a mini dp => HDMI cable. The screen worked fine for 15 minutes and then blacked out with no signal. The cable was warm to the touch and after it cooled down, the screen worked again, but only for another 15 minutes. I've replaced it with a different mini dp => HDMI cable and it seems to be working OK at the moment but I did have a 5 minute blackout earlier in the day with the new cable. UPDATE: The 2nd mini DP =>HDMI cable is now exhibiting the same problem as the first. It seems to occur when I am placing more strain on the graphics and the whole signal then gets lost. I have a mini HDMI => HDMI cable on order and will see if that is more stable.
It also seems that none of the cables I can use will offer me more than 60hz refresh rate with my GTX 980 card. Not a problem as I'm not a big gamer but could be a consideration for others. If I can't get a stable cable connection, I may need to return the monitor.
UPDATE: The micro HDMI => HDMI cable sorted my problems and also gave me 100hz. The colours are also less muted with the new cable and Black's are black. (edited)

In the case of the display extension, it will simply show the laptop's resolution natively and the monitor's resolution natively and everything will look as expected. You can set the monitor to be your main display when plugged into the laptop and use the laptop's display as a secondary. That would be my preference with that setup.
You can also set it up so the laptop display shuts off when plugged into the monitor and you have just the ultrawide. This is less practical if you're doing normal web browsing / administrative tasks where it isn't difficult to drive the second monitor. However, with just the ultrawide on and the less amount of pixels compared to the laptop's native resolution, it would be easier for a graphics card to drive, if you wanted to do a bit of gaming. I'm specially interested in the USB C and KVM aspects of this monitor as I have multiple computers.
As said the only downside is the resolution for those paupers who haven’t made the jump. On the upside it looks great on your desk!

the usb-c and kvm is awesome. Got a usb hub in the back so got my mouse, keyboard and a usb light all plugged in there fine.
I only remember dual monitors in my office on dedicated base units eith graphics cards eith dual outputs, but I'm sure the devs with dual monitor and laptop setup would have done it this way!
I'm keen to place an order but can't seem to get the voucher code. Can anyone PM me with a code, much appreciated. (edited)
