  • Upload 20 Mb (average)
  • Average speeds are based on upload speeds that at least 50% of customers get at peak time. The faster the upload speed, the quicker it will be to do things like send emails and post photos / videos to the web.
  • Usage Limit Truly Unlimited
  • "Truly unlimited" broadband is perfect for heavy downloaders, student households or families sharing their connection because it does not apply either a fair usage policy or traffic management. Some packages offer "unlimited broadband" without a fair usage policy but with traffic management to make sure that very heavy downloaders do not affect your connection at peak times.
  • Excess Usage
  • Truly unlimited broadband does not apply either a fair usage policy or traffic management, allowing you to download as much as you want, whenever you want, with your broadband speed acting as the only restricting factor.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned as I'm too lazy to read all 314 previous comments.

Virgin Media has recently become available in my area and we've had their sales guys knocking on the door. I mentioned that I'm in-contract with BT until February and they said they'd buy-out up to 3 months of remaining contract with another service provider if I were to switch. I don't know if this is a universal offer, or compatible with their black friday deals, but though t it might be worth mentioning.

No issues...... Joining, Them taking you money corretly or incorrectly,

    But.........

RUBBISH CUSTOMER SERVICES, GETTING THRU FOR ANY ISSUES, (Billing, Etc) Also giving you BS.

Im leaving them on the next end of contract after 13 years

They're offering me 1gb broadband and anytime chatter for 56£.. as I'm on last month of contract. Is it possible to get it for lower?
    bigf00t's avatar
They offered me the same for £49.99. (renewing my contract)
Then they added the stream box thing and that made it £54.
Then they added a 10gb o2 sim and that brought it DOWN to £46.

No set up/activation fees, already received the sim and my new router and stream box arrive on Saturday.

Bill splits up as £36 for the 1gb Internet and £10 for the sim. (edited)

Problem with Virgin is they have two deal departments. Virgin outbound (where they ring you) can offer abs stellar deals whereas virgins retention team can offer mid range deals if you push hard enough but even then they're nothing compared to outbound. (edited)
    Coinkidink's avatar
How do you get the Outbound team to call you then?

Ordered M500 Broadband from these guys 2 weeks ago at £34pm... Knew I should have waited! 😔 (edited)
    aaronseuk's avatar
You have 14 days to change or cancel contract from ‘start of service’ (not order) … perhaps you are just inside that period?

    free stream  box
    o2 10gb sim
    £50 credit

    £26.99 then for bb  (edited)

I've just spoken to VM about cancelling the sim card and they said it would also remove the package discount and so the price would increase.

I have never had one issue with Virgin, in fact I currerently pay £17 for 200mb, which I'm pretty bloody happy with

When you want to upgrade to 1GB Broadband they don't give Hub 5 router if you have already Hub 4. Not good if you have devices with WiFi 6.
    MrSwitch's avatar

They were / are giving out the new router for free, so it will come around again
  9. rogerroger37's avatar
After spending hours and hours trying to cancel this summer (let alone renewing the years before) it's clear VM is absolutely awful, this is a rubbish deal for that alone. Their competitors are much better and cheaper.
  10. Larzoapso's avatar
Just renewed my contract. Best I was offered was £24 but with a reduction from 125 to 50 meg ! so I said I would look elsewhere and put my notice in. Got a call just now (1 day later) from outbound retentions to offer M250 (free increase from 125) and Ev/Weekend calls for £18 per month with no price increase guarantee for 18 months ! He said OFCOM have told them they can't put prices up mid contract now. News to me ! Happy with that !

    New customers only isn’t it?
    Jayhillen's avatar
Spoke with them today and they will be releasing these offers to current cuatomers as well. Only available online today but available to current customers from Saturday onwards. Got it set up today
  12. smush's avatar
Be very wary of these “deals” once they have you as a customer they will keep putting your bill up to the point where you’re lucky to even get their lowest speed for this price.
    AbbasTheJinn's avatar
If any internet service provider increases your price mid contract you can leave penalty free within a 28day period - if you highlight this to your provider they will normally revert it back to the original price to keep you as a customer.

VM is not the only company to introduce mid contract price hikes - EE, Sky & Vodafone all do this aswel.
  13. Marker's avatar
I gave them my 30 day cancellation notice after being on Whatsapp chat with customer service for over 5 hours (which consisted of maybe 10 minutes of actual chat and the rest just waiting for responses and having to read their automated drivel) as the best "deal" they offered me was M250, weekend chatter and Maxit TV for £72/month.
Retentions called me 2 days later and after some negotiation I got the equivalent of the Bigger Bundle deal for £40 (£1 more than for new customers) with a Hub 3 being sent out to replace my Hub 2. And as my wife is with O2 I got the Boost to M500.

Happy enough for now but omg what a huge number of hoops to have to jump through! (edited)
  14. slysy's avatar
Is anyone else having trouble with retentions allowing you to reduce services? We have TV, phone and broadband.

They keep just offering discounts to retain all three. If I want to downgrade to broadband only, they keep insisting they will only offer the full price.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to stop a cancellation, once you've given the notice? The cancellation period is like 30days, thought I might ride it out for a bit and see if I get a call with better offer. (edited)
    deleted2817902's avatar
You can join next day as new customer. They openly lie on the phone you cannot join for 6 months but when you join as new customer all offers open to you . I generally keep an unlimited data SIM for these times . Three UK even offering unlimited one month only 5G broadband plan which can get while you shop around. Don't fall for fear tactics. (edited)

Can you get this package or the ones below and cancel the o2 sim after. Would have no need for it.

I got told on live chat if you cancel the sim, they’ll bump the price up and remove discounts

They are the most incompetent set of morons i have ever come across half of stuff I ordered is not correct even though I have it all in b&w she’s offering me £20 compen so cancelled the lot unreal lol
    ccraiggould's avatar
Gotta agree. I spent over an hour just simply confirming a contract renewal i agreed to, then a few hours later got sent 3 different acceptance contracts all costing different amounts per month, next day i rang up and told them to cancel the lot, despite this they still insisted on making me offers and it wasnt untill i said you could give me it for a £1 a year and i still wouldnt accept to stay that they got the message. Absolute joke of a company.

Anything for existing cusomters? I am paying £24 for M125. Been with Virgin for about 5 months now.
    not_bort_simpson's avatar
I'd suggest you reject the renewal offer in a few months time and ask them to cancel. They'll probably offer you double the speed for less money
  22. RealGeek's avatar
Just read more than 100 reviews online and it seems like It is rated the worst ISP certified by an existing customer, also asked the next door neighbour and gone mad chasing for installation (edited)
    ZennZero's avatar
This is my main concern. They are famous for overselling their capacity.

But apparently if they consistently under perform below minimum performance thresholds you can break your contract without penalty.
  23. MDog0101's avatar
Honestly if you have any other option just stay away from Virgin.

Absolutely fine if you have zero issues and never ever need to make a change with your account.

But speaking from experience and at least 20 hours on the phone over the last few months - would not recommend.
    Husla's avatar
What exactly have you been talking to them about? If I may ask

Worst customer service ever, easy to join but harder to leave then the church of scientology. I am sure others have had good experience but I just had the worst (3 months of back and forth to leave) 😔

Please people avoid if you can, the initial price satisfaction is not going to last.
    whiteface's avatar
I've been an on and off Virgin customer for years (5 at this property, 5 at previous ones) - in good areas they're great when the service is working, otherwise you're in for some pain (one oversubscribed university house, got 1mbit daytime and 50 overnight in 2011).

Customer service is fine in my experience, and the retentions team can do basically anything you need. Don't be a knobhead on the phone and you can generally get whatever it is you're looking for that day. One year I had the usual "your service price is going up" and I asked for retentions and said "I'm really hung over and my bill is going up and I don't want that can you please just... less money" and they kept me on ~£28/mo for 350Mbit just like that bless 'em. Sure it's a pain in the ass calling up to haggle regularly, but if you can hack it then they're generally alright. Superhub in modem mode, USG3P, unifi access point and I was happy fast and stable for years. If you're in an oversubscribed area though, god help you, that's not getting fixed anytime soon.

Good speed at a good price if you are in an area where you can get it ♨️
  31. Vistrix's avatar
Worth checking if you can get this deal even if you're an existing customer.

Last time there was a deal on (a couple months ago) I went onto live chat to see if I could get a new customer deal being an existing customer... and it worked.

I dont think I can do it so soon again though...!
    GHRocker's avatar
Gonna try tomorrow, wish me luck!

I got this deal through retentions last week. Any one interested retentions did say they are now offering the business packages as more people are working from home. Was £33 a month for 400mb and a different router that has better wifi range.
    deleted531767's avatar
Is the different router not just the Hub5 which is Wifi6?

Maybe it's only better if you have Wifi6 devices, which we have, so there has been a difference since we got our free hub5 replacement this week from Virgin. (edited)

Awful deal IMO, i got this as a renewal 3 months ago for £18 a month, my friend just got the same deal at £14 per month.
99% of people dont need the 350mb package, or even the 200mb package, they do the 100mb now 125Mmb for around £18 as new customers.
    mkc2bad's avatar
agreed, i don't think this is a good deal. My package was coming to an end (only 100mb, but honestly do most people really need more than this?) Anyway, I cancelled, got called back a day later and offered £17p/m and a speed bump up to 200mb (now 250mb) I think that is a decent deal.
  36. Amg07's avatar

Good deal. Im on M125 with basic tv package and landline for £22p/m - hopefully renegotiate when due to something better

48656712-lRquA.jpgThis is what I get from Three 5G broadband for 24/month without contract. With contract £10/month for 6 months and then £20/mon for remaining 18 months. But I opted for monthly as you can't rely on Three when they become a pain
    lucyferror's avatar
Like for real? You get 415 Mbit on phone? Jesus I have 264 mbit virgin and I get it on PC connected using cable but on my phone I get 40 mbit max somehow on my Deco mesh network :/
  39. buggu's avatar
The slightly better deal from virgin was on here a few weeks ago.

£23.95 for M250 was the one I chose, but with £100 credit worked out £18.39 with weekend calls and no setup fee. I choose it because it gives me the flexibility to be able to not just decide when, if I ever wanted to upgrade but also how to upgrade, as rather than paying virgin £7.70 for an upgrade to M350, I could go the volt route and get a sim in the process for £6. In short for under £25, I'll have M350, unlimited weekend calls, and 10gb Sim.
