I know people have issues with Facebook, but still...Most people use Facebook and Whatsapp, Oculus Quest sells for lots of money and the list goesbon. Still people vote cold on these devices. On previous deals I've seen comments from those who voted cold, and some had absolutely no clue what this is. And BTW, there is a camera shutter and mute button for those who are concerned with their privacy.

Best device for video calls. Yes, people will say why not a phone, tablet, etc. Try and keep your small kids in the front of the phone for the grandparents and you'll see why this is better. You sit on the sofa, the camera follows you, the other party has a full view regardless the kids run or not.
Also, very good for people with certain limitations. Voice command, you don't need to put any effort. Since I have this, I'm talking to my parents abroad on weekly basis. Before, was on monthly basis.
Even when it was £150, I felt it was a great deal. Never mind at £40. I appreciate the support will be discontinued, but I'm expecting these will still last for a while.
Voted hot, and I know what I'm voting on. I'm not comparing the other Portals with Google and Alexa, as I prefer the other 2. But for video calls, this is by far the best device out there IMO. (edited)

I concur. We have two a portal 10 and a portal (portable one). My kids call the grand parents constantly on them. The portable one is bulky enough to not be like a tablet. It doesn't have games. Neither youtube / youtube music as native apps. Makes it a great coms device. (I wish it had youtube, YouTube music, as it has very nice speakers.) for these prices I highly recommend it.

I have another one (portable Go) in the office as a dedicated ms teams device. It has a very nice camera that pans to fit the room / speakers. Highly recommended for that use too!

When they discontinued these - I saw no reference to how long features would be supported? So you have no idea what will work and for how long.
