Product Deatils:
This Forest Garden Kimbrey Log Cabin is a deceptively large cabin that also features a separate storage space which is perfect for lawn mowers, garden furniture or BBQ equipment. Manufactured from kiln dried 44mm smooth-planed interlocking tongue and groove logs which provides superior strength and stability. The Kimbrey log cabin features double glazed toughened safety glass with fully opening double doors combined with one tilt and turn side window which allows plenty of light and air to circulate through the cabin. There are also two double glazed non-opening windows at the front of the cabin.
The floor is constructed from 19mm tongue and groove boards, while the roof is constructed from 19mm tongue and groove boards covered in poly felt with underlay. Felt is wear resistant, cuts with a clean edge and acts as a thermal and sound insulator. Felt can also be exposed to the elements and maintain its physical properties as it wears. Pressure treated floor joists support the cabin to prevent base damp and rotting. Adjustable hinges allow you to adjust your door vertically and horizontally, ideal for timber products that have a tendency to have doors that bind due to settling or swelling.
The Kimbrey is supplied unpainted and untreated, giving you the choice of colour and type of treatment for the building. The smooth planed finish of this cabin gives a truly premium look. A mortise locking system is provided for security. We recommend that the log cabin is built upon a firm and level surface such as as a poured concrete base.
Features:
Once you have treated your cabin, all glazing units will require sealing which can only be completed post treatment as the sealant can repel the protective treatment when applied retrospectively. Sealing is a simple process outlined in the instructions.

sorted byFoundations need to be solid, I got a builder to do mine, but you can disregard this cost if you already have somewhere flat for it.
The roof is only 18mm. Even with the felt that's rubbish, so I got a warm deck installed by a felt roofer. ~ £400
You also need to treat it with specific oils to keep the Warranty. These were £60 a tin and I needed two to give it two decent coats. So that's a extra cost. ~£120
Also I went for under floor insulation. And then put the flooring in. The roll out foil stuff worked for me. I think it was ~£200
44mm and double glazing is is mostly enough for me 11 months of the year, I tend to need a radiator in there for the very coldest months. I costed up some battens, 50mm PIR insulation and Plasterboard but decided not to bother in the end. From memory that would have been about ~£400
I also got power and ethernet cable installed. Which involved some digging and alike. So this cost will likely be variable ~£800
Delivery was fine and I only needed minimal tools for the job. A decent soft mallet and a decent drill/impact driver. I built it over course of a week after work. So easily doable over a weekend, plus drying time for the oil coating. Luckily the David Dickinson orange has faded with time.
P.S. with the warm deck it would have made it over 2.5m high, but I just built one less layer of timber all the way round. It was enough to squeeze it under the 2.5m limit (before planning permission is needed) I also got the builders to dig down so the top of the base is basically at ground level) (edited)
This was the installation service some years ago from Forest Garden and recent reviews on various websites suggests little has improved.
I would avoid this company, even if they are selling via Costco. (edited)
the flapping tiles is normal, they get secret nailed normally and not stuck.. I personally would have done a layer of torch on under felt, or tacked it on… then finished with some green mineral felt over lapping all the sides.
torching it on is the only way to guarantee no leaks as it avoids 100+ tack nails making holes.
the wood is fast grown these days and although that probably arrived saying it’s good to fit and leave, I’d have drowned it in wood stain or some oil. It’s not treated timber by the looks of it.
same for the doors, I’d have expected that to bend from day one… tons of stain would keep the moisture out of it and a lower and upper bolt or wing lock might have held it in place when the suns on it.
I think I’m telling you much of what you and already know.
The foundations are what's most important
how does a shed being called a log cabin not fall foul of trading standards
