- Is it worth upgrading from 4th gen?Probably not unless you really want the temp sensor and bump controls (which can be a bit of a pain).
Apparently the sound is a bit better at higher volumes but not worth upgrading over a gen 4
You also lose the aux out on the gen 5
Plenty of videos on YouTube comparing them - Poundland edinburgh has wall holders for echo dot a pound I would imagine all there shops have them
Thanks just ordered the white one great deal (edited) - I think i stopped using mine when amazon started chucking adverts into the music feed. I used to love asking alexa to play 90s indie, songs from 2011,stuff like that. Now, it seems to currently shouts adverts every 15mins, advertising amazon services I don't want. I just connect with Bluetooth now, use my phone connection to play stuff I like. Booo.oh stop spreading fake news. you got to read about the availability of no ads on amazon music as of few months ago. they have made nearly all the features free now. I use my alexa to play songs uninterrupted and I don't have amazon music subscription .
- Does anyone know if the charger for this is the same as the previous version of the Dot? My cables are all run and strapped together and don't fancy having to strip them all back out again.they're same
- Is it possible to play Apple Music on this without voice control, i.e. through the app?You can ask Alexa to play songs, artists, albums or genres from Apple Music. You can also play playlists from Apple Music's editors or playlists in your iCloud Music Library. Say something like: “Alexa, play Chill radio on Apple Music” or “Alexa, play Ariana Grande on Apple Music”.

- You can trade-in your old one and get a fiverr. So this will end up being £16.99 . Thanks OP! (edited)But will the code still be available to get the trade in offer?
- Great price, but sad it doesn't work on the Dot with clock. Am tempted to bite anyway just to get the temperature sensor. Does anyone know if the 25% trade in offer works in conjunction with this offer?I couldn't get it to work: traded in an old dot and got the £5 deducted from the price, but the 25% discount didn't apply. It's there if I go to buy yet another Echo device, but I'm not ready for that yet
- code doesnt workNo for me 😞
- Question... I have my Dot paired with my fire stick and it really is fantastic sound. IF I buy a 2nd can i use them both together paired to the fire stick to give me a more surround sound vibe?yes if they are in a group (paired)
- Didn't work for meTry echodot5
- Anyone know if they've enabled the WIFI meshing with the EERO yet? I know it was enabled in the USA, but not heard anything about UK for a while!it's available in the uk. scroll to the bottom of the article: support.eero.com/hc/…em-
- would this better than my Amazon Echo 1st gen?Functionally, no. Later versions had better speakers and mics.
- I've got the offer but are they a lot better than the 3rd gen echo dot?AuthorNope
- Can this be used with a ring doorbell, I mean so it actually Chimes, let's you know someone is at the door?Mine doesn’t chime it simply states someone is at the door
- This has a thermometer built in, does it get confused with asking what the temperature is, if you have a smart thermostat connected to it?I have a nest and one of these. My dot is called "office dot" and my nest thermostat is called "living room". If I ask the dot "What temperature is it inside?" it responds with "The average temperature of the house is ....". I have to say "What temperature is the office" to get the actual temp from this dot. If I want to know the nest temperature I have to say "What temperature is the living room". Hope it helps!
- Does this one work as a mesh note for the eero router? Read something about this once but nothing really since.it's available in the uk. scroll to the bottom of the article: support.eero.com/hc/…em-
- Serious question, had one of these years ago and couldn't really find a use for it. What are people using theirs for exactly?I use mine to play music & radio, set alarms/timer/reminders, operate lights/appliances/heating, intercom, font of all knowledge (ask it questions), weather reports, sports info, etc. etc. Oh, it tells jokes too
- Did I need It, no. Did I buy one, yesMe too!
- Feels like a good prcie, but do I really need another bloody Echo Dot?! Heat added thoguhIndeed, I think I have 8 but ......
- Do I need another Echo device? NO
Have i bought another Echo device? YES
Do I need another Echo device? NO
Have i bought another Echo device? YES (edited)Did you really need to repeat yourself? NO
Did you repeat yourself anyway? YES - They were having a hard time bugging houses, so they persuaded the masses to bug their own house.I bet you walk around with a foil hat on all day every day too
- I think I might trade in my crappy echo show 8 and go back to having a dot. Amazons new boss might actually kill Alexa off at some point, he's not a fan and the division is losing money. The show 8 is a far superior speaker tbh. I don't think Amazon will be stop selling them soon, considering they've sold millions of them. (edited)
- 7 in the house! Do we need another? No! Did I just buy this? Yes!I feel your pain. I've got 12 echo devices (shows, hub, dots v2 & 3) across most rooms in the house & garage. Getting a bit crazy now when seeing bargain offers for newer versions.
Jusifying it to the missus to stock rotate one of the old v2's so it'll be used to trigger the heating to come on if it gets too cold in living room, as the smart thermostat is in the dining room & a few degrees difference. She won't grumble at that. Always a way to pitch & justify it. - Code didn't work for me but heat for effort
- Didn't really want one, but there was also an offer for an extra £5 off if I added a new card. So I got one for £16.99 - seems a bargain. If I don't use it I'll give it as a present to somebody. How to use the additional £5 off offer?
- please stop, i don't need another, i've got 4 in the house including 2 in the same room... If i buy it, you are the one explaining it to my wife. Two in one room? Thats a very smart way to spend your money
- "Alexa tell me the time"
"Alexa what's the weather like today?"
"Alexa set a time for 10 minutes"
That's the relationship of me and my Alexas."Alexa it's snack time" it proceeds to pause Netflix and turn on the light to 50% in the kitchen lol
That's my relationship with Alexa - Ordered, I’ll have more dots than a domino’s box
- Just worked for me, thanks! Managed to grab the white one :-)
- Thanks for this OP. I had recently purchased a refurbished previous gen dot for £20 so have ordered this for £22 and will return the other. Net cost of £2 for a better product - result
- Cheers Op. code worked a treat.
- Smoking hot
- Remember Topcashback for a bit more back!On Amazon?!!
- I'm a Google Home person but was willing to try at this price. Amazon says "no" just like it does to every other 'certain accounts only' promotions on HUKD. It would also have led me to buying a video doorbell so that's two sales gone.
- Worked for me - thanks OP.
If anyone’s wondering that 25% discount for trading in doesn’t stack with this code, so you only get the gift card it offers for your old device. - Thanks so much, hadn't planned on getting another one, but hey ho £22 cannot be frowned upon!Likewise it would be stupid to pass on this one
- Fantastic stuff thanks for this I was trawling eBay and gumtree over the weekend. Now I get a new one for less (edited)
- Just bought it... No real need, I dislike this site...
