Re the comments regarding it being the US version, update to the latest firmware and then you can switch between NTSC and PAL ( see photos )

Launched in 1982, the C64 home computer went on to dominate the home computer scene throughout the 1980s. The new computer on the scene; Out goes the silent black and white experience and in with 64KB of RAM, colour graphics, and synthesizer sound.

35 years later and it’s back. THEC64 Mini; A tiny but perfectly formed 50% scale replica of this much-loved machine. THEC64 Mini plugs into any modern TV via its HDMI port and gamers can play any one of the 64 licensed classic pre-installed games using the classic style joystick at up to 720p HD. This includes games from original legendary developers and publishers such as Epyx, Gremlin Graphics, Hewson and The Bitmap Brothers; and boasting titles such as California Games, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, Paradroid and Impossible Mission. Most of these were rated over 90% by leading publications of the day, with many winning coveted awards. From sports to shooters, platformers to puzzlers, there’s a plethora of titles to keep the most discerning retro enthusiast happy.

As befits the original, designed as a home computer; you can also plug in a standard USB PC keyboard and use as a classic C64 to type in those old BASIC computer listings or program new games.

This looks like the USA version.

Pretty sure there are speed/timing issues with the North American Region model. See previous threads here for more info.

No need to put people off this.
I had the vic 20 for Christmas when all friend got the 64 or speccy.
    Awful underpowered computer.

Commodore BASIC was really Microsoft Basic (they licensed it and changed the name). If you used an early Commodore computer (PET, VIC20, C64, etc), you were effectively using (very, very early - pre-operating system) Microsoft software.

i would love one of these to bring back some good memories of super turrican, spy vs spy, dizzy.
but whats it like to get more games and is their lot of plugging in and un plugging because of the few ports this machine has.

You can search and download them yourself, or buy a usb with about 4000 games on it on Ebay

The system itself is great, easy to update with your own roms, but beware the joystick is awful! (edited)

then it's pretty authentic if the joysticks awful

Fun for the first 20 seconds, then you remember how bad the games included were, so you download some roms and get all excited again, only for lots not to work, or spend several minutes trying to get past the crack screen and then turn it off and put it away forever.

Normally just have to press run stop or space bar to get by the crack screen. Got most of the games I wanted working.

    Will it play C16 roms?

Presumably the joystick with this is the same ('TheJoystick') one that can be bought to work with the A500 Mini? It's £19.99 on Amazon.
I was going to get the A500 but apparently the joypad that comes with it is rubbish so would need the joystick so this is tempting :/ (edited)

The joystick that comes with this is apparently rubbish. It's not the microswitched one that you can buy separately. The microswitched one DOES come with the bigger C64 but that's much more expensive

Is there any extra delivery to NI?

Edit* I just noticed there is a nice 8.5% TCB on this site.

Edit 2* No extra charge for NI, I've just bought. (edited)

Do you still get time to have a bath, stretch one out,get dressed and make a roast dinner whilst the game is loading?
    niknak's avatar
I remember Manic Miner on my mates C64s was about 20-25 mins to load, much to my joy being a Speccy owner!

Never had a C64, but loved the Amiga, but prefer just watching the retro games channels on YT rather than actually playing the games these days!

Spent so much of my time coding demos and trading on the ‘wares’ scene. The things you could do with the C64 were unbelievable with its limited specs. I’m glad the demo scene is still going strong!

Think these have got to the retro point when noone really likes it but pretend to like 1950s music
    nairobi's avatar
If you don't like 1950s music, you're either listening to the wrong 1950s music or your taste in music sucks.

Loved Raid over Moscow. I bought a C64 at the Home life exhibition in Leicester around 1984. Set it up around 7pm, still on 3am next day!

I had a c64 back in the day, it was a step up from the Spectrum Sinclair, but I can assure you it was neither black and white, or silent. In fact the graphics and sound were amazing for the time. I think someone has confused this with the ZX80

We were posh and went for the C128 that was mostly used in C64 mode with a 1571 disk drive with 5 1/4 floppys (edited)

Having plugged the real thing into a 14" portable tv back in the day, I'd be concerned about what the graphics will look like on a 4k or HD full size TV.
